even if they nv deceive u,i wont go to their shop for servicing..rather send my pgm 4 to eugene tan...dun ever go HKL even though they say they got wat pgm racing team...

FT?got FT plate pgm mehz?newest pgm to come out recently is a FR plate..cos bikeshop gave him the num plate..

got... saw at mah motor diam the other time. 1 owner only. this is the second owner. original repsol sp paintwork. i wan to buy last time wan but very expensive. 8k. think the plate is ft404. not very auspicious.

confirm is transfer num plate..pgm stop production in FQ plate..last brand new one was hold by mah pte..sold off this year for some price higher than my k4...bugger full cash it..and his num plate is not FT...first owner oso get FP or FQ plate..by FS,no more new pgm and the onli brand new one was the one i mention above..SP model ends at FP plate..the one andy is riding is from the last batch..

Would you mind telling me where's this Eugene Tan shop? How's the rating and ALL 2 strokes bikes he'll be capable in servicing? Includings PGM and TZM?

oic... i saw tat ft404 log card b4. got 4 or 5 transfer liao but the mah motor diam say its transfer between motorshops lo tats why got so many transfer... think cannot trust them la. i really don like tat plate no lo, don noe why he retain tat kind of no?:confused:

no la, not sp or se model tat differs... its the trust la. if u buy fm internet, the person will be more reliable n will tell u the likely problems tat bike have. if u buy fm motordiam, they everything also say gd lo. they wont tell u got problem, if tell u, u will buy meh:sian: :sian: but some motor diam really gd wan lo...:smile:

ya lor.. haha.. 404 lehz... its been up on shelf at lee motor for yrs ar i believe.. it was a fn plate pgm.. i guess the owner retain the fn plate no. for his new bike.. n gave his new ft plate to the pgm..

all pgm log card will show SP model..the onli way to spot the difference is by the magtek rims and front fork..SP model can adjust one more click than a SE model..alanpoh,ask andy..i got teach him..and internal difference is SP model has a closer gearbox from 3rd gear onwards..

wat u mean by 1 click??? the suspension huh? :confused: btw i read a article n saw tat there r no difference in the gearbox between sp n se lo. only the magtek wheel n the blue nuts tat differs... i go find the website than post here la. :smile: btw my log card don show sp or se model wan le. it shows 250r2r which is a 95se model. for sp model it is 250r3t. 3 means 96model. t means sp model. r mean se model. maybe only earlier batch log card like tat lo. i next time go andy house see his log card lo.:cheeky:

Q. Hello Matt,

 

I have several questions for you,please give me your unbiased opinion. I have a 21R wet clutch motor and (I think) that I am satisfied with its performance. Because I have never used a dry clutch motor I do not know what the difference is between the two. I will only ever use my 21 as a street bike as opposed to a track missile. Am I better off getting hold of a dry clutch SP motor for the better gearbox? or can I alter the ratios at a later stage to obtain a closer range of street gears on my wet motor? I hear a lot about F3 gear boxes and such like and am always on the lookout to improve on what I have.

 

I will be purchasing from you one of your 300 kits later on, towards Winter time. How much would you charge for a complete engine with dry clutch and close ratio box already built up with your kit installed?

A. Hi Dave,

 

There's always been a lot of talk about close ratio gearboxes, specials, SP gearboxes and the like, but the little know fact is that there is no such thing as an SP' close ratio box. All models of MC21 (R,SE,SP) have the same transmission ratio fitted.

 

The MC28 came with slightly wider spaced 4th, 5th & 6th gears, so the "trick" tranny for the MC28 was to fit the last three gears from the MC21. Simple as that!

 

There is however a special HRC first gear available. This is a higher ratio. The stock ratio is 13/37 = 2.846, and the HRC kit 1st is 15/36 = 2.400. HRC recommend that this special first, and the 4th, 5th & 6th gears from the MC21 are used when SP racing.

 

The Formula 3 transmission is a different thing altogether, and has long been discontinued by HRC. This was basically using the gear ratios from an RS250 NF5, but with special HRC mainshafts and shifter forks. Both wet and dry clutch versions were available. This gave the user a number of ratio options for each gear, so you could chose from an incredibly close box, to a wide box, depending on track conditions. The gear location dogs are undercut for a positive engagement of gears, unlike the stock NSR. This box can tend to be a little clunky, especially in the lower gears. The F3 gears cannot be mixed with the stock NSR gears as they use a completely different engagement design.

 

Concerning the differences between the wet and dry clutch models. To be honest, there's very little to gained from the dry clutch, although the noise it makes is a little special in itself :-) And it's quick and easy to change plates.

 

In power terms, the wet clutch will make slightly less hp due to the oil drag, but it does tend to last a lot longer than the dry clutch, as this can suffer from burned plates and springs going soggy due to heat fatigue.

 

Soooooo, by changing from an MC21 wet clutch R transmission, to an MC21 dry clutch SP transmission, the only things you'll gain is maybe one hp and a lot of clutch rattle (good at the traffic lights!). The tranny will stay the same.

 

I can build you a 300 motor with a dry clutch is you want one, but the beauty of the 300cc's extra gee gees means that the close box is not necessary, as it'll pull you out of trouble from revs a stock NSR would be choking at!

 

The major factor here would be the price, as we are no longer able to build up engines using all second hand components. The transmission would be used, but the crank and seals would have to have new parts fitted. Just the crank is $575, so you'd be looking at over $2000 before you got the thing delivered.

 

If you're still interested then we can talk definitive prices. What you'd get is basically a brand new crank and top end, but with a used MC21 mission and dry clutch.
