I was wondering, does the bigger the suspension coil of a rear shock, the more weight it can take?

Example between a Super 4 and a FZ1 Fazer.

Does it mean Fazer's suspension can last longer than Super4's if assuming both used to travel the same route/speed/condition everyday and carry the exact same amount of weight(Weight+Rider)?

What do you mean by "bigger the suspension coil" ? Are you referring to the coil diameter, or thickness of the spring wire ?

The thickness of the spring wire has a proportionately bigger impact on the Spring Rate than the diameter of the coil diameter.

I was wondering, does the bigger the suspension coil of a rear shock, the more weight it can take?

So is a YES to this question.

Does it mean Fazer's suspension can last longer than Super4's if assuming both used to travel the same route/speed/condition everyday and carry the exact same amount of weight(Weight+Rider)?

This question is hard to answer because a suspension system does not comprise of the spring alone. It has many other components to control it's damper and rebound characteristics. The failure of any of these components will have a drastic negative effect on the suspension performance.

Let study from basic:

1) What happen if no suspension is used on bikes? Hard... bumpy and not comfortable.. But in Singapore where the road is so good... almost even, so may be OK.

2) So to take away some bumpy due to road uneveness, a spring is added in, this is first stage of suspension, spring basically made of steel, if rust prevention is good, it last FOREVER. Too hard(Big) the spring is just like a rod, too soft (small) the spring also act as a rod.. so the right size of spring is important to provide the absorption effect, thats to say, CB4 and FZ1 used the right size of spring to match their weight, a FZ1 spring will be very hard if used on a CB4 although may last longer.

3) Now with spring on it, depending on the weight and speed bike hitting the uneveness on the road, the spring back and forth action or oscillation can be very discomfort.

4) To improve this oscilation, damper and rebound system are added it, most of time oil or air valve system are used. In simple term, the oil or air provide some resistance to slow down the rebound and cushion the spring when it was squeezed down. Now this system need maintainance as oil and air will leak overtime. This is very important if you are riding on a bad road surface and fast.

5) There are a few level of suspension, some with only spring (more to rear suspension), some only rebound adjustable, some with damer, etc.. Good news is you still can live with only the spring is you don't ride that hard core, and that almost maintainance free.

Conlcusion: Suspension must adjusted according to weight.. not necesaary bigger is better, applies to both and front.
