Im sure most of you guys have encountered this...

Want to renew road tax but the insurance period coverage is not enough..

So what u guys did? Renew insurance for a couple more months to cover the rd tax?

Or just get another insurance and terminate the current one???

extend your insurance to the date such that it coincides with your yearly inspection and roadtax renewal.. not too sure bout the savings of getting a new insurance, but it definately limits the hassle of doing these admin stuff to just once a year

i dun think can save much by terminating and buy new de..

wat bike u riding? i m oso scouting for new ins. co.... but no luck..

allianz - no coverage for sportsbike

axa - no covererage for abv 400cc sportsbike

mitsui - quoted slightly lesser than NTUC, but i forget to ask inclusive of GST anot.. coz if havent then NTUC still cheaper...

PS: even if mitsui quote were cheaper, the differences will not be enough to tempt me to go thru the trouble.. mitsui nid to go kelantan lane while NTUC i can go any nearest branch to renew..

Those are mostly for cars.

Not all will do for bikes.

extension for

1. terminate the insurance after using it for a few mths when yr road tax expires as well. you will stand to lose a certain portion of the unused part of the policy. e.g. u used for 3mth but company only refund to u 6mth balance.

2. continue w/ the new insurer for 12mths and after which, u do the extension w/ them until the expiry dates of insurance matches the road tax.

in the end, it is juz a matter of time that when u have to do extension. either u do now or exactly a year later? my advice is to extend as soon as possible. with the kind of increase in premiums nowadays, even the rise in NCD/NCB is not enough to offset. extend for that few mths now will probably be cheaper as compared to if u do that nxt year or year after.

Looks like extending is the best option. Thanks for the input. :thumb:

no prob~

do note that for the period extended, the NCD/NCB remains at current levels.

e.g. now having 10% NCD/NCB, if u extend for 3mths, the rate will be at 10% NCD/NCB instead of moving on to next level of 15%.

Just webchat with the customer service..

Renew 4-months = $204.57

Renew 1 year = $310.20

Can see the diff? Guess renew 1 year is more feasible...
