Lubing the chain

Hi i have this can spray called "soft99 grease spray", is this product advisable to be used for lubing my bike chain after i have cleaned the chain with wd40?

 

FYI: my bike's a yamaha fz150i btw.

It doesn't matter as much what your bike is, but its generally not advisable to use products that are not meant for motorcycle chains as a lube, reason being it'll be flung off at high speeds. I've never heard of the product personally, but unless it specified it's meant for motorcycle chains, you're better off choosing a conventional chainwax.

ive tried it before. its good to use for electrical use. for lubing, i think its ok. because it will become sticky when u let it rest for awhile.

wd40 is likely to ruin the o-ring rubber if spray directly onto the chain..

and the grease tends to fling off when riding, so it'll soil your bike, and maybe your clothes too..

Use diesel to wash ur chain.. But I use petrol cos it's easy to just draw some out from my tank. Mine is normal chain,so I dunno if petrol will damage O-ring chain or not.. Better to use chain lube,even cheap ones are better den nothing.. Think LAB got Castrol chain spray,cost only a few bucks for a large can.. Lube often esp after riding tru rain.. My 1cent

Cleaning of chain and lubing it is two separate process. You have to get both right or you negate the other.

 

If you clean it with petrol or WD40, you are basically destroying it before lubing it!

 

It's almost like strangling your pet then trying to feed it.

 

The rubber o-rings basically works by trapping grease in it. X-rings, have 1 more groove to trap grease on both sides.

 

To experiment, take rubber, and lithium grease, drip petrol or WD-40 on it and see if it dissolves the grease.

 

Between petrol and diesel, I'd rather use diesel.

 

For the fussy biker, use specific chain clean products.
