sorry, guys. Just found out. Seems our thread is quite active, the mods decided it was best to move here and get more exposure.

I was the one who suggested to rename it to TLRiders

Unless you guys can suggest a better name, I'm all ears. :)

TEKA, it's not a bolt on part that can fail, no fudging etc, the TEKA writes directly to the ECU. In short.."Plug & Play"

You can remap in real time with the TEKA. Tape it to the tank and remap while riding, remove it when you've got it right. The settings stay in the ECU.

Also you can use the TEKA on other fuel injected Suzuki's, you've got one unit, you can remap as many bikes as you like. 1 PC is for 1 bike BUT 1 Teka unit = infinite....

when you turn the ignition key on, there is "pssst" or whirring sound. Sort of like something turning on. Initially I tot it was the FI map being loaded into the ECU from the ROM. Turns out it was one of the pumps. Forgot which one. Must refer to TLPlanet.

In suzuka's case, there is no whirring sound at the startup. You can make that happen simply by using the engine cut-out switch. A CHEC will appear on your temp LCD and there's no whirring sound. This means 1 or some of the FI sensors is not receiving a signal.

Think that's what is happening to Suzuka's bike. Signal is not being received until he shakes the bike. Maybe loose wire. He has to trace which code or sensor is giving the problem and work from there.

Suzuka, you can do the DIY dealer mode? If having trouble, gimme a call. I'm free in the daytime today. Maybe can meet up and I'll give you a hand. I oso need to rewire my fan switch. Darn thing loose again and I'm getting cooked balls again this week.

Hey Wildcard, abt de fan switch..u DIY or u did it somwhere else..i oso wanna install a fan switch..any recommendation??

okie,

(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

last time, when u ride carb bikes, you "tune" the engine by messing around with the fuel / air ratio so as to get the optimum performance out of your bike, rite?

The same with EFI bikes, except there's no knob to play around with. Carbs are mechanical and manual in nature while EFI is largely electronically controlled.

Thus, the only way to "tune" an EFI bike is by remapping it. An EFI map is sort of information stored in the ECU which tells the ECU chip the fuel-air ratio to be maintained, the precise amount of fuel to be squirted at a given RPM. So from there, you can create custom maps based on what you want from the engine (max performance, fuel economy, aftermarket parts added on, etc). But usually its best to leave mapping to professionals. You don't want to mess around with a erroneous map.

There's two kind of mapping that I know of: Power Commander and Teka.

Power Commander or PC is a device "piggybacked" onto the ECU. It intercepts the EFI signals from the ECU before it reaches the EFI system and modifies it to the map loaded on the PC before sending it to the EFI system. This means your original or stock ECU map is not affected. Also, custom maps can be created and stored in the device for you to play around with in exacting detail to get that optimum performance for your bike. Also, you can change maps easily DIY by using a computer or laptop and uploading a new map into the device (Palm PDAs can do it too).

Teka mapping is new to me. I just tried it and still testing it effects out. From what I understand, its changes the mapping on the ECU directly. I'm still confirming on this.

There is a third one, called a Yoshi box. Its not exactly mapping per se, more of fine-tuning your fuel-air ratio with a few twists and turns of a device. I guess its often used with a new standard map.

Try referring to these links:

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Still studying these stuffs. Anyone with more accurate information, feel free to add in..... :p

Mine was done when I bought the bike.

I asked the owner. He got it done at Sporting Motors.

If you wanna try a DIY or knows an electrician who can do it but need some guidance, refer to this:

http://www.tlplanet.com/forums/showthread....s=&threadid=181

Though I would seriously recommend asking a shop do this one. I'm thankful enuff that mine was already done...
