Hi all riders,

need some advise here, currently riding a Phantom TA150 with 2A license. Planning

to upgrade to a 1st hand bike.

I was pretty much attracted by Shadow, but was wondering should i get a 2A shadow

or CL2 shadow? Tried searching for threads, don't really have much info comparing these 2 classes.

Can any kind souls pls advise me of this comparison?

Basically, i would prefer a bike that:

1. could cruise comfortably at 110-112km/h (travelling at Malaysia and Thailand)

2. top speed could reach 140-150km/h

3. fuel economy (20+ km/litre ??)

4. powerful (pickup, riding with pillion and 3 boxes full of loads)

well, if there isn't 'MUCH' difference between Shadow 400 and CL2 Shadow, i might

as well choose Shadow 400 as it will be cheaper in machine price, insurance and other

miscellaneous spendages.

or if there's really a big difference, i don't mind waiting till i got my Class 2 and paying more.

thank you.

Hi, I believe most riders here will say the same thing.. it's really up to u. likes/dislikes, budget etc etc

I have seen/met shadow 400 riders cruise & tour on her with 3boxes and pillion. Personally, I feel she's alil underpowered. I rode to K.L. last year on a steed, solo, no boxes.. nearly died.. cruise @ 110-120km/h.. sleepy, push to 140km/h.. vibration was unbearable(old oledi  ) came back, started hunting for a bigger bike... now got a @t(africa Twin) & it's been heavenly for the last 10mths..

:lovestruck:

Long story short, my humble opnion.. Get ur CL2 licence & go for the mother of all Shadows... :cheer:

hope it helps!

for all the criteria that u list out, i thought super4 fits the bill thoroughly. So y not consider it??

Hi buttbutt8, thanks for the advise.

Is Super4 considered a cruiser? My friend who ride Super4 told me it can cruise really well, he consider more like a tour bike. For me, i consider it as a sports bike. But anyway, i am still those 'cruise' guy category, so Super4 don't really comes into my list. I ride my friend's Super4 before, its a great bike, but still not to my liking.... anyway, thanks.

The feedback I got from zero_degrees was both my 750 and his 400 are the same. Pick up, handling, etc...

My personal opionion? My 750 is the bare minimum that you want. I don't know about the 1100, but I heard that for the 1100, you're better off getting the ST11. That's from a stranger's opinion

Hi Gohjohan,

I saw from ur sig that u owned dragstart 400 n Shadow 750 before.

Is there a big difference in term of power between those 2? And how are those 2 compared to your new FatBoy?

Thank you.

Differences? BIG differences, especially for power!!!

Compared to the Fat Boy? After riding that, my Shadow 750 is lighter. Best to train up before riding the Fat Boy. Get the Dragstar 400 and push it around the block. You need every fibre of muscle to move the bike without switching on the engine. The dry weight of the Fat Boy is about 309 kg, depending on which year you're referring to.

The pick up, of course the Fat Boy wins. The Dragstar 400 is underpowered. Shadow 750 isn't too bad, still can hold its own.
