After the idle screw adjustment, 23.8 litres got me about 380km. I suspect my low fuel light may also be coming on earlier than usual.

azary, have you tried FJT? If you have the part number can try asking them to order for you. Btw may I ask why you want the 28A alternator?

Peppercrab - need to replace it...coz my bike alternator rosak oledi...together with the rectifier..sighhh :(

Try old southern motor. IMO getting yourself a new one would be better compare to used and changing it is not easy so best let the shop do.

how much it gonna cost me..? the new one n the 2nd hand one..?

My mechanic recommended me to change this thing called the coupling. According to him, it is the gear thingy which is transmits power from the engine to the shaft and of course the shaft transmits power to the wheels for it to move.

He asked me if i always whack my engine, in the sense whether i hard accelerate, i said yes and obviously this might be causing the linkage of the gear to loosen. so now i also feel my bike is rougher that before. last time, when i place my phone on the phone holder while iding, it wont vibrate. now i can see the phone shaking alot. so i believe this is a necessary change.

so what you guys think? change or not?

Probably open up and check whether loosen. Then re-tightened... He haven see the coupling yet... Ask u change.. Wanna chop!

just did it. i changed coupling, rear sprocket in the wheel, and clutch housing. it is really much smoother and no weird sound. $900 damage and 6 hours of work. i did it at planet. and fact is, ah chong tell me no need change. not spoil change for what. but i dun want to riding halfway then it spoil. the mech fixing up for me told me one guy rode to KL and his rear wheel sprocket totally worn off. could not find any parts there, so he came back to sg, buy e parts and when back KL to change n rode back. i really would very much like to prevent such mishaps.

Most ST11s reaching that "age" already, thats why probably. Agar-agar lifespan of alternators must be about 10 to 13 years I suppose.

Its like going for heart transplant op when you 60yrs old so that you can live another 20yrs more.

I'm looking for someone who can remove the old layer of paint before repraying my ST11. I know its not an easy job because you can't use thinner on a plastic fairing. But I'm still looking around for someone who may have a way.

Bike already has 3 layers of paint, including original paint. Adding a 4th layer could lead to paint cracking at curves over time and I want to avoid this.

Any ideas anyone?

(I've already considered full decal as an alternative too, but would prefer to respray)

Personally, i hate decals. So my opinion here is simply to advice you to stay away from decals. Decals dont really give that nice look to vehicles. Very fake. And over time, decals can crack and discolour as well. If you do not wash or polish your painted bike after a very long time, it will look ugly. But simply take out compound wax and turtle wax and polish, woohoo, looks brand new. Cant say he same for decals. :)

That's why I'm looking for someone to help solve my old paint problem instead of simply using decal bro. I agree with your sentiments on this. I mentioned decal just in case anyone suggested it as an alternative.
