Well This is the Story

First Time

When my mechanic jus keep throttlin then let go clutch like testin the viting point then got the bay whinning sound but very low tone instead or rather low pitch. He asked whether previous owner got change clutch pi so i said not sure.

The thing is usuall acceleration wouldnt affect

second Time and third time

When Change gear while bike already in motion, for example from maybe 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th, the clutch i think didnt like get hold of the gear. so was like middle of 2 gears. clutch in for a while then drop gear then engage.

Fourth time

Needed that extra acceleration so move of from a stand still from third lane to first. traffic quite busy. so once got viting point then turn throttle. who know same sound.

This type of so called clutch feels so diff from others i exp on other bikes. anyway i jus think either really got clutch skin to change of jus that this type of bike cant receive had riding.

wow.....! don sound good to me le.....!

i guess u better send it for some expert to view and test it.....!

the sound u hear may not be clutch plate, it maybe clutch housing...!

clutch housing will come lose(depend on different bikes), it create a different sound in the engine but it is ok, no big issue....! can be replace when u change clutch plate...!

anyway, send to expert to view.....! the best choice....!

The thing is only due to hard riding only. other than tat is ok. the 2nd and 3rd time is jus my gear not kicked properly. compare to my previous sports bike and aggressive riding habit, maybe tats the reason.

one more thing, my friends rides a honda and he did mention that honda has clutch housing problem or something.

well spend more time on the road, and found out tat my riding habits need to improve even more.

kish_garflied,

have u check the clutch slave pump before confirming it's clutches plm..? the 2 pump seal tents to give way due to normal fair wear & tear as a result of poor enguaging of gears.

with worn clutches u wont be able to ride smoothly especially on 1st gear pick up, fuel consumption will be higher than usual. accelerating thru higher gears r big plm especially on up slope.

Yo Yuz,

Currently there isn't any of us selling away our beaST. So far only saw 1 or 2 at Looi's but the mileage are at the high side which u need to spend some more cash to replace parts due to wear and tear....

hi MiCmAsta,

for Pan Euro models there r;

V = 96-97', some US model around this yr make also 'V' model.

W = 97-98'

X = 98-99'

Y = 99-04'

PW, PX & PY aka TP model = from 97'

after 94' US models are 'R', 'S', 'T' & 'V' model, there r also 'M', 'N' & 'P' for those below 94' US models.

the difference between US models & P.E;

Pan Euro model

- common color r white, maroon, mid nite blue, & green.

- smaller main jets & 40A alternator.

- built with head light switch.

- speedometer in KM/H

US model

- chilly red & black color.

- in between 96' models some r still with 28A alternator(external rectifier model).

- #128 large main jets with richer air/fuel mixture.

- EVAP system(emission controller)

- speedometer in MPH (miles per hour)

Now that explains why i see some with the P.E tag on the fairing and some only the ST1100 wording... So those bikes with MPH are USA Model? I see... Thank you very much... Your info very powerful...

hi MiCmAsta,

yes, ONLY US models r with MPH.

US models has no headlight switch. both front signal lights r & dual headlights r on like S4.

both model's construction r the same except those few i quoted, & only in between 96' & earlier make r still using smaller AMP alternator.

hope it helps... :smile:

Hi, Simon

I'm not very sure about the AMP Alternator.

Actually what is the different between smaller or bigger AMP Alternator?

Peace

hi ANDREWHEE,

those manufactured before Nov 96' using 28AMP alternator with an external rectifyer.

laters' batch were improved to 40AMP after some reviews done, reason unknown. :smile:

Hi Andrew,

The reason why Honda upgraded the alternator from 28A to 40A from 1997 is truly unknown. However, most USA bikers change from 28A to 40A when they purchase earlier models. The reason why they upgrade is because they put a few "accessories" on their bike. So, if you are using the bike plainly stock, which year model would not have made any difference in the alternator. But do note that many have commented that the 40A alternator is much better and reliable. :smile:

All the best :goodluck:

Thanks simon & shebiker67

So that's mean we can upgrade 28A to 40A if we need it right?

Anyone did this before? And how much does it cost?

Peace

According to our counterparts, it cost them about US$500++ in parts alone and they DIY installation. Most of them upgrade because some of them install radio, PIAA headlights bulb, heated grips etc. So, they would need a higher amp alternator.

Owners of ST1100, im just curious.. want to know... ur side mirror, is "fixed" right.. so how tough is it? like light bang.. will it, brak apart?

reason im asking... was parking my bike today... at my house.. when i noticed.. a ST1100, with left mirror, (plastic part..dangling of the bike) think the mirror part is attach to metal rod.. well tis still up lah..

so i wonder.. is (pastic part) .. very fragile? or is it.. some one.. accidentally banged.. really hard on it?

i ask bec.. im worried, if the next time, if i accidentally bang abit on a st1100.. with the plastic side mirror part break.. i see also i freak out.. as looks like the repair cost might be expensive..

Hi Visual...

the "plastic part" u mentioned is call the Side Mirror cover...

which is mounted and easily removed by just tapping in a direction.

The mirror is actually Flexible as it can retracted inward the rider...

The side mirror cover is also fastened by a strap which will prevent the

cover from falling straight to the ground...

I think most of us experience our mirror cover been knocked off by other Bikes or

people that parked too close to Our Bike...

As for the cost ... Yes ... it is considered expensive to replace the Side cover

= S$80.00 +/-

Not forgeting , when u have customised the Paint Job... U have to pay extra

to bring it for paint job...

So, it is not Fragile... it drop and dangle but will not fall apart...

but if there is a Hard Impact on to it, or dropped direct...

hmmm it will crack and break apart...

Hope that helps

Cheers

kish_garfield,

yes it is.

use those reputable grooming products will give u a better results. i have a fren using autoglym's polish & resin, both works well for his car.

it's very effective but very expensive, both will cost about $40.00. there's also similar product that i'm using now, polyglaze's diamond polish & the other duno what name. the 2nd 1 comes with a yellow sponge for u to apply a thin film layer on ur polished surface, it will provide a very good glossy shine.

Well for one i know both provides a shine but if something that takes away the top layer, i think i will stop using it.

logically think wax will be better?
