Hi everyone,

Just got my ST FR plate 3 weeks ago. Still need some opinion from u 'lao chiaos' ST riders. When I 1st got the bike from shop and go pump petrol it cost me $43 dlrs (pheww..) and I rode it till abt 230 miles when the fuel indicator needle go to the red line. Tot that is the standard fuel consumption. Then last Sun I went to Malacca. Before going I have pump abt $42 worth of petrol at S'pore. I ride all the way to Malacca just to 'burn tyre'. Upon reaching Ayer Keroh then I realised that I have travelled 310 miles and my fuel needle just reach the red line. How come huh?

Hi all,

Have been riding ST for a few days.. can't express how much fun it is when riding.. superb bike i should say. Again few questions i have here in order to take good care of this bike:

1. when start cold in the morning.. i can hear this "tick tick" sound from the engine.. it is less noticible when warned up.. is this normal?

2. When free gear, i notice that it vibrate slightly more when i let go the cluth. If i cluth in, can feel that it vibrates less.. does not make sense right? it is on free gear.

3. what is the rpm like when traveling @ 100kmh @ 5th gear?

4. is there any tips for parking main stand? or is there any hygraulic main stand parking system just like the x9 500 for mod? strained my back due to improper techneque.. :giddy:

First of all welcome to the club.

Your experience is due to highway riding and urban riding. e.g. I live in the west and I travel to my work place in the east and always use AYE, ECP. fuel consumption is about 19km/Litre. Now I am on leave and only travel short distant and consumption is higher, about 16km/Litre.

When I travel to Malaysia, fuel consumption for my car is about 530km for full tank as compare to 440km driving in Singapore.

Good to know that there is yet another proud ST owner.

I can't answer all question posted as I am no expert as far as technical problem is concern but I sure can answer question no. 3 - my usual rpm travel at 100km/h is about 3000 or just slightly more. I find it strange when I first own my ST as I didn't realise that ST has got low rev engine.

dropeed by GOPA and bought the headlight bulb. had it fixed for my dad's US version ST. freaking difficult to fix the metal clip.... took me almost an hr to get it done and to the extend of quiting hahahha..

aniwae had a problem here, my dad's ST, i cant adjust the headlamp to shift downwards, turn left till my arms can grow big sia.... but it din shift downwards, any tips??

btw, gopa had indent sbs brakepads, not the ceramic but the higher end dat cost $40+ a pair and was told that the oem brakepad is as good and is cheaper. he tested the z6 tire and rated handling at high speed aint satisfying compared to z4 and dragon.

best is gopa and his wife recognise my bike and the ex owner... he told me the bike i bought is well maintain and the ex owner take care of his bike to the extreme.. pheww..... nice to hear that. thankz joseph!

is ur's an US model showing miles..?

FC will depend mainly on these 2 factors:

- condition & the age.

- riding habit & how it was maintained by previous owner(s).

there could be other factor made culprit for higher FC, u wil have to unroot the caused step by step. pherhaps u can start with ur air filter make sure it's not dirt clogged & was the general maintainance done properly, properly in the sense of correct heat range spark plugs used & correct viscosity of engine oil u r using.

other than above check for 'auto fuel chork' leaking(leaking fuel chork will result into insufficient flow of fuel) & fuel filter is not blocked, if any of these r not working properly, fuel wont pass smoothly that result into higher FC.

other than above 2 explainor, u will need to remove ur carburettor for cleaning, tunning & synchronising, & the same time to inspect the intake manifolds for cracks.

it aint that far from JB to Ayer Keroh as u quoted 310miles...

Hi Sckona,

No doubt. The Gentleman Express (nickname for ST11) is a durable, good, fun and low maintainance bike with lots of luggage space.

The gas tank can accommodate about 28 litres of petrol. The furthest I have ever tried is about 310 miles (310*1.61=499.1 km). And when I reach the petrol kiosk, I only pumped about 26++ litres. A simple calculation shows that the fuel comsumption of my bike is about 18.48 km/litre (499.1/27=18.48).

I should say the major things to take note when purchasing a ST11 are the same things you looked at when you purchase your previous bike. e.g. Accident free? Mileage?

Hope I have provided you with a brief insight on this engineering marvel.

Best regards,

BruiseLee

** P.S. We will try not to discuss on the pricing of FS/FT plater ST11s here. But mine is selling at S$8.8K (Neg) in Garage Sales.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index....T&f=11&t=115231

this the correct method of calculating.. ;)

Hi all!!

Just got my new ST 5 days back and I'm damn proud of it :cheeky:

But my knowledge on this bike is close to zero I can say, so hope all the season riders here could give some good pointers and tips

One thing though, mine is a 1300. Dunno whether I came to the right club or not...

Hi Simon,

Any luck finding the spring retainer? Check GOPA he said this is the firest time he heard of the problem. FYI thanks and hav nice day:smile:

not sure with the exact part name, the spring inside the gear box is to support gearing transmission. once it's loose u'll experience malfunction of unabling to enguage gear properly or dropped without valid reasons. could be this plm or other related area from the slave pump unit.

gear box must be disassembled to get it fixed.

I just change the engine oil. Tot want to check the air filter. Also need to noe wat is the average price for total servicing, i.e change engine oil, spark plug, air filter & oil filter. Abt dat mileage from JB to Ayer Keroh, its actuali from my my place to Ayer Keroh. Sorry, wrong info given:sorry:
