Bro, you know how much this thing (Saeng Wing-Tips) cost???? US$199.50 - US$254.95!!! I checked it out before and I rather ride with the wind than pay that kind of price.

Here is the website http://www.saeng.com/products.htm for those interested

There's another alternative which is cheaper but also not so cheap US$75-US$85. Similar concept. I think this is very possible to DIY from lexan plastic if you got the right equipment. No specific model for the TDM900 though coz US does not import TDMs. But most likely be able to use a vtrom or fazer model.

Here is the website http://www.laminarlip.com/

If you are convinced about the little flip up piece that it works, MRA has the vario touring screen

for the TDM http://www.mra.de/Marken/YAMAHA/tdm_900.htm

Or you can order a touratech one

Weather is usually erratic in US, it was 15 degrees sunny here yesterday. Really nice weather, all the bikers started appearing everywhere to 'show off' their R1s, Gixxers, HDs, etc. AND best of all....NO helmets!!! Its not a law here apparently.

Biking stuff is cheaper than what u find in SGP and you get to find loads of other stuff NOT available in SGP. Too much stuff that I wanna buy liao :lovestruck: also alot to carry back :giddy: and going over my budget :help:

I dun think its cheaper if you buy the stuff and ship it back to SGP. Its back to square one usually (add local shipping to ur US address and plus shipping to SGP -> double job somemore). People in SGP might as well order direct from US suppliers. Of course it will be cheaper if you handcarry the stuff back when u return.

Hello to everyone in here. taking mycl2 now and looking for a TDM. Actually jus found out about the bike 1 week ago then came to this thread to source for info. Cos i am actually deciding between V-strom 650 n TDM n realised that both are fine but need to find out more about the costs involved 1st then decide further.

Could anyone help me by letting me the recommended brand n price for the items mentioned below? So that I can go workout my $$$ involved. (Best if can include both bike's accessories)

-Top Box w/ base plate (Preferbly mounted straight on to bike)

-Engine Guard

-Mainstand

-Windscreen

And lastly, i will be most grateful if anyone can post the location( bike shops and such) and price of any 2nd hand V-strom or TDM that u happen to see k? Cos looking for 2nd hand bikes turn out to be quite a tiring affair.

Thanks!!!

Hi there, do a search on the classifieds in SBF and yahoo auctions/classifieds and you find a couple of TDMs on sale. Take your pick. Most pre-owned TDMs will most likely have those accessories aldy. But if you wanna buy brand new then:

-Top Box w/ base plate (Preferbly mounted straight on to bike) (I only use H&B side panniers, not a fan of top box so I cannot comment)

-Engine Guard (H&B $250, SW Moteh ?, Givi ? Yamaha ? , I'm selling my H&B if u want it)

-Mainstand (H&B $250, Yamaha $400, SW Motech ?)

-Windscreen (Eagle A$120, Yamaha ?, MRA ?, Ermax? )

Question mark means I'm not sure about the price but they are available for the TDM.

You probably need to check with the vstromers abt the DL650. dt222 was in the same shoes as you, so he should be able to comment. Power wise is obvious between the 2. Price of course TDM more expensive. So is the insurance, rd tax. But fuel consumption is better than the DL650. TDM is well known for its fuel economy. Go for something you like and suits your needs. No one is selling the DL650 now as its pretty new. So u gonna have a hard time looking for a used one.

Good morning to all,

All I can say is I never regret getting TDM, old man with weak heart, so I am not going "too" fast.

The fuel consumption stay about 23 ~ 24km/litre, for every 380 to 420 km, I top up around 17 ~ 17.5 litre.

I bought the bike new from shop & it come with a SHAD 46 top box direct mounted to rear rack, FOC from the shop.

No problem so far but I am going to look around for a bigger diameter hand grip, a little tired when ride longer hour especially in town area.

The bike look sexy to me, and most important, I look 10 yrs younger on this bike compared to my ex-Dragstar classic 400.

Price diff on new bike between DL650 & TDM is about 1K, so it is quite comfortable for me to opt for TDM.

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all bro here...Cheers.

If you were to follow the trend of TDMs, each model lasts 5-6 years b4 a new model TDM is released. In between, there are ususally updates but still remains pretty much the same. So you could be looking at 2007-2008 for a new TDM??? (think a 950 would be a logical increase instread of bumping it up to 1000 straight away.

On the other hand, we might be expecting something from yamaha to replace the XTZ750 in the form of an XTZ R1000. It could be rumours as well.

http://www.rohmann.de/discus/messages/13/11681.jpg

While many manufacturers moved away from developing the parallel twin, yamaha perservered it. Ever since 1970, they have been developing parallel twins. No-one else now makes a parallel twin of over 500cc apart from Laverda and various specialists who build British twins (British parallel twins ruled in the 50s & Edward Turner 'invented' the modern parallel twin in the form of the 1937 Speed Twin) to order from parts. The reason, it seems, is that it is easier to get power from high-revving multis. And as far as twins go, the V, with its stiff, narrow crankshaft and better primary balance, is now the preferred configuration.

Just got back from Manchester. Didnt see any TDMs while there but I managed to bring back a 2005 motorcycle accessories catalogue from Demon Tweeks and one from motrax.co.uk. Lots of accessories and ideas if you want to mod up your bike. I'll bring it along if there's any meetups.

Also got my oxford kit. Now I'm eager to fix it up and increase my ass size. Weeeheeeeeee :D

Hi Fooz,

I checked out Hein Greikel (spelling?) while in Sheffield.

Nope they ain't cheap even when on sale.

However, I did buy a set of oxford bags through ebay which i think is quite ok. They are older models and since oxford origin from UK I guess its a pretty good deal.

You can however look out for other sales cos in the UK they are usually genuine compared to the SG expo sales that go on and on...

Clarks shoes for example are definitely cheaper in the UK.

R u a student there now or on business trip?

Hey yappiez, my dad wears clarks shoes, dun tell me u wear them ok o_O hahaha

What I discovered when overseas is that if you can find a similar product in SGP, its about the same price as or slightly more expensive than in the country of origin. Plus while overseas, you find so much more products that SGP do not have. Essentially, its better to buy those stuff overseas if you cannot find them in SGP. Though its expensive, you still save on shipping compared to if you were to order online from SGP. I just bought a set of transparent signal light covers (X4) for my TDM via ebay (US$5 only). More stuff still pending

Oh you'll be surprise how fashionable Clark shoes are.

Its just that in SG they only have the 'old man business-liked' models...
