it's getting used to pull up main stand... i had difficuility at start too.

and it could cause the mounting screws to loose overtime if u didnt do it right...

Yes sir, jus now did some remedial training, here the findings...

Wear slippers is nearly impossible as stepping on the main stand as pivoting, hurts like hell. No matter how hard I pull, push, the little cow just wouldn't move.

Change to a solid base shoe, this time mission accomplish. Some effort involved, I'll believe with more practice will perfect the skill.

Good afternoon Kmax . . .

Congrats from me and family ! !

I had the same issue when I had my H&B mainstand. I used this to overcome the problem. Buy a metre of climbing sling from any outdoor shop. Do a simple loop and secure on the pillon rearset.

It served its purpose until I tried an original yamaha mainstand on my friend's TDM900. A world of difference, like butter and effortless. It is clearly a design flaw of H&B where the power lever could not generate enough leverage to get the bike up. Almost pulled my back in the process and had the fear of using the mainstand. Of course I changed to the yamaha one immediately (almost double the price of H&B but worth every cent). You are right about getting other heavier bikes on the mainstand easily. ST11 has that handle on the side and the BMW GS can install the touratech handle. The AT is also tough to get on the mainstand unless you modify it.

Good evening sire... Thank you for enquiring our Yamaha TDM wnquiry thread. your post may be recorded for quality assuring purpose.

unfortunately, our dear agent does not bring any new models so you have to find one on second hand market.

not to worry, most TDM on market are good condition since TDM 900has been standing strong since 2002 without any major change in engine and design.

TDM is all rounder, can ride daily in and out of town, go for weekly pump sessions and occassional touring on all sorts of roads, both paved and unpaved.

for me, working in raffles place CBD area, TMD has never failed me with crawling with traffic nor monthly trips up north.

fuel consumptions is in range of 20~24 km/l depends on riding.

6000rpm at gear 6th ?? em, 160kmh may be, coz i remember i was crusing normally at 5000rpm at 140~150kmh on most trips.

oh btw, today i tried to drag 1st gear till red line and reached 120kmh  dont worry, it was controlled environment without any vehicle around.

hope our answers help with ur queries and have a nice day.

actually, i am using the side box mounting rack, the black bar behind the foot rest as handle, it works well for me (btw, i've dropped a few times when pushing the bike down from main stand in earlier days)

Yup, you can use the method but you will bend your back when lifting which could hurt your back. The sling handle allows me to straighten my back. Better take care as we grow older.

I had the same problem, but got taught the right way and since have no problem. Uncle Thomas is "The Man" when it comes to mainstand training. Maybe he can organise a seminar to teach everyone the technique... :thumb:

Thanks for the advise pal, however I don't have a side box mounting rack to assist me... Anyway thanks for your tips...

By the way, anyone has mod their headlight into a dual light ? Means that instead of the usual single side that lighted up when the starts, it turns on both side...

Used to did the mod for my FZ6 before...

Anyone care to share....
