Hi to all,

My bike is suffering from a bad FC at the moment. On average, I am getting about 17-18km/litre. Is the age of the bike catching up with its FC or does it have to do with something else? I am not throttle happy and I change gear at low rpms. I am also not a racer and usually travel below 110km/h. Any inputs on this? Thanks in advance.

Mine is even worst than yours... I only can clock ard 280km before reserve (16km/l)...

I pillion 70% of the time...

City traffic 70%...

Expressway 30% (also crawling, max 70km/h)...

Pump up tires pressure every fortnightly...

Front tire quite new...

Rear tire going retired soon...

Change gear ard 4k...

Never ending list..................... Bah bah bah....

But when I don't pillion, I can clock ard 320km (18km/l)...

According to our friend Thomas, he can any time clock 400~450km... WOOOOOO....

Anyway for a 900cc, this is a good mileage...

So a lot of factors are to consider, never ending story... And how much you willing to spend to make it to drink little like Thomas bike does... As long its not drunk its okie...

Don't worry about the FC Bro, just enjoy the smooooth ride...

By the way, I'm throttle happy guy but not madness like some...

FC.. 2 things to check..

1) what RPM do you change gear ? dont be like Ansmania.. change gear at 6k rpm all the way..

-the day i put back scorpion endcans... love the sound and rev higher than normal

end up 18L for 320km. ... about 17.8 km/l

-learnt my less and go slower at traffic speed.. FC becomes 320km for 17L.... 20km/l

-TDM is good at crusing speed with RPM under 6k...

-stop/start will affect fc significantly.

2) CO ratio, that one can check from dash board...

-check the manual bro.. or come down for kopi.. difficult to type and explain..

Hi Fenz,

I am a newbie to TDM 900. Been enjoying this wonderful machine. But I need to seek advice/pointer with regards to my fuel tank/metre :-

- I filled up fuel once the indicator starts blinking and notice that Pump shows 15L and fuel already to the brim.

- I switch on the bike and the indicator shows only 4 bar.

- So I did a typical fuel check by knocking the tank and notice that the front top seems to be "empty"

Pls advice and share with me on any possible cause to my queries. Thank you Frenz in advance..

Problem for my fuel gauge resolved.... conclude that the fuel meter maybe faulty. Took risk to test and it gave me the desirable reading...400++ before top-up.

Next issue,

Is it norm for TDM to heat up easily?

Few occasions, when stop at traffic light...temp rise..ride off and it's back to normal.

No leakage when check...anyone experience this?

Hope that seniors can share..thank you.

Bro, there are a lot of factors that can affect the FC..

For example...

Condition of road

Tyres

Riding style and etc...

For me when i riding the bike to work, usually on expressways.

Seldom got caught in jam. FC very gd ard 20-24km/l at 90km/hr.

If go touring, ard 14-16km/l... depends on riding style.

Like Bro Heaven51 says, if u add pillion.. weight issues and many2 more lah...

Actually 17-18km/l is not bad for a TDM comparing with other tourers somemore for a class 2 bike.

Why not service the EFI n see whether is there any difference? I know joeboxer done his n he is happy with the mileage.

If u so concern for FC, ride a sampan like me.... hehehehe... so dun worry too much lah bro....

Like Bro Heaven51 say..

Don't worry about the FC Bro, just enjoy the smooooth ride...
