Yes I did honked at u. Cos u were driving like an ass. Stare at me some more.

U should have been apologetic instead of arrogant.

So wat if ur driving a Farking Sonata? It does not belongs to u.

so far most of my experience with near accidents and actual accident are mostly taxi... still fighting a case with a bloody trans cab who twisted his story that i cut into his lane causing him to avoid me and crash... this mf case caused a reserved amount in my insurance and increased insurance premium for the next renewal...

On my way back from work, was on the extreme left lane when a taxi, a sonata from the opposite direction wanted to turn right, inch in all the way till the middle lane. Not happy, I stopped in front of his taxi.

He put down the window and started shouting why stop and block him for what. I got angry and decided to remove my jacket and helmet (I'm a uniformed officer btw).

Then he apologized and say that his pick up was too fast, cannot control. Like WTF! So I ask him to stop one side and I called for TP.

Are taxi drivers given such powerful taxis to run faster and clock in more passengers, cause more accidents, deaths and reckless driving? Where are the speed limit meters for taxis these days?

Should we put up a partition to limit taxi speed just as they do for buses?

If their speed shouldn't be limited, why?

btw u frm 11? reg or nsf?

i got the best of both worlds cause i ride since 1996 & recently back in 2008, i've got my taxi vocational license & started to drive part-time on weekends since then to get some experience till recently few months back i've stopped.

before i drove the taxi, i was like u guys who thought all taxi drivers are all reckless drivers....

but from my weekend experience in driving the taxi which was spending 12 hours on the road, this my point of view..

there are car drivers & motorcycle riders (me included-used to ride a Blackbird for the past 8 years recently downgraded to Spark 135) much WORSE than all taxi drivers put together..

it all depends on the person..we discriminate taxi drivers because it's the vehicle(taxi) commonly seen on the road & if there are some blacksheeps...human nature assume all taxi drivers are reckless...imagine one day u encounter a Honda Civic (it's just an example, no offence to Civic drivers) which nearly cause an accident?do you assume all Honda Civic drivers are reckless?think about it!

Most of the younger taxi drivers ARE the reckless ones. Old ones just relax only.

And razin, don't mind me saying but most caged accidents are from taxis. statistic had proven that.

There are assholes on both sides of the fence, be it on 4-wheels or 2. I've had drivers; not exclusively taxi drivers, who have slowed down and given way for me when i'm making a lane change.

Inversely, i've had bloody idiots on big bikes tailgating so close behind me at night that he blinds me with his headlights.

Ultimately, its down to the person manning the machine.

But sad to say, statistically, most accidents involves taxis, hence the discrimination i guess.

And be mindful of old Ah Peks driving BMW's, Mercs or other high powered luxury car. I think cos they just bought their dream car from their retirement money they can drive like the road belongs to them, or maybe they've just drove without incident for too long that they have become complacent.

Just last night, i stopped in the middle lane in a three lane cross junction. To my left was another car and to the right was a Ah Pek driven BMW. When the lights turned green, i accelarated forward. About 5m after passing the junction, i felt the presence of the BMW on my right inching close to me. I slowed down and the bloody idiot just cut into my lane without any signals. Bloody CB. Then after that cut into the left most lane.

I got so damn bloody boiled up.

My response:

Horned him like mad,

Passed beside the driver door.....

This is my SUZUKI, HEAR ME ROAR! (rev my throttle and gave him an earful!)

Okie, i might have caused noise pollution, but at least my heart was content so i could continue my journey home anger free.

I rode two taxis yesterday after sending my bike to Planet Motors for custom electrical rigging that took the whole day!

The drivers were extremely safety conscious and preferred their older Toyota Crown and Nissan Cedric to the Sonatas which were, in their words, quite unreliable.

Sonatas were also prone to speeding in the wrong hands and that has led to a fair number of revoked licenses.

Thus both drivers did caution me that if I had a powerful machine, I should use it responsibly and not to speed. One of them even gave me a real, live seminar on what he thinks is a safe following distance behind other vehicles to account for safety distance, the other TIBS Nissan driver was very friendly and behaved similar to me on the road - I will let drivers or riders in a rush have right of way no matter the condition.

Both of these had nothing against motorcycles or motorcyclists - infact they let a few slow Phantoms on lane 1 take their time overtaking on the PIE at 85kph (which is more or less the max. relaxed cruise speed on a stock TA200).

I also brought out biking related topics and the very courteous drivers were more than happy to share their stories in their younger days with Yamaha RDs, Suzuki RGs, etc.

So hope this clears the air that taxi drivers are NOT out to kill you. They are just making a living and a hard one too, with all the competition on the road, congestion, etc.

There are reckless drivers, indeed, but these are the minority it seems, and when they do eventually cause accidents or break the law, they can forget about driving.

You're my hero JSCJL! Well...some taxi drivers are good drivers. I'd like to share this...I once took a cab, and the uncle was commenting on how dangerous bikes are sometimes..he told me once, there was a P plated bike that banged into his rear, bumper had a dent but all he said was "The guy just passed his license, he's a young chap, if the taxi is still able to move, i don't see the need to claim from him" Throughout my journey, i don't have to worry about sudden lane changes nor was he speeding. But taxi drivers like him are hard to come by.....
