Actually, if everything is just a simple economic model ignoring a few variables, it is possible.

Printing of more money would decrease the value of that currency.

Dats y the printing has to be done in secret.

After the printing, next comes the distribution bit, usually thru govt financial instruments, but then the public would be aware of this.

Then interest rates will have to go up to maintain demand for the dollar or the downward spiral begins.

So Plan B would be Obama, Bernanke and Geithner scooting down chimneys of remaining homes, yet to be repossed.

Why the constant interest in GM?? Finally ST eng is moving alittle..

2 things I guess.

- Stocks that have hit bottom have only one way to go (if they don't tank completely)

- The "phoenix" effect that Throttle mentioned.

in case you guys dont know, basically no real money is physically printed when money supply is increased.....

the only type of secret printing will be counterfeit......

maybe i miss this out somewhere in my 15yrs of being in the markets as this is all very new to me, or perhaps i misinterpreted your words......care to explain a bit?

Money supply in the system is certainly not increased by physical printing of banknotes and then "distributing" it in the system.

Yes, we are just taking a pot shot at the current situation.

Basically when interest rates are positive, demand is raised by higher asset prices. But currently, i/r are zero bound and there are no wealth inducing effects from the open mkts. So, the central bank can "stimulate" the situation by by purchasing assets above mkt value, in exchange passing this "printed money" to the public.

Dang towelheads. They got the oil while the others got the sand.

Moses should have made a left turn after he parted the Red Sea. :p

Anyway my friend is happy too with the recent rise in oil prices. He's in the oil bunkering/trading business. Bast@rd made a sh1tload of $$ in commissions last year when oil was sky high. Hoarded fuel oil at the start of the rise and sold quite a lot when it peaked.

Hey CMY, what's it take to get into the oil trading biz man?

Yea, regardless up or down, u can make heaps, u just need the price to move and be going in the right direction too! sounds easy but it can turn nasty. very nasty.

well, its a pretty tight cycle but it helps if u have got the basics.

like a business/economics/finance degree with specialisations in macro/micro econs, statistics or applied finance.

the next better requirement would be contacts who will rope u in.

once u have a proven track record, u will be headhunted, everybody will be seeking your services and u can then ask for indecent amts of basic and commission.

OR

if u have a sizeable amt of spare greenbacks, u can DIY.

100% pure comm is just so tempting.

make 10-20k USD per hour and u can call it a day and continue tmrw nite.

work anywhere ard the world, just wake up to trade NY hours.

u call the shots.

nobody tells u what to do, u do what u want, whenever.

of course, the downside is that u bear all risks.

any open positions in 24/48hrs can wipe 6 figures off yr capital if there is a major turnaround.

no risk no gain right?

actually any trading job is like that.

take a position, it goes your way, you hit home base.

move against you, your P/L take a hit.

the bigger your book, the more you can hit and be hit.

take too many hits and you're gone.

It's a job to make the most while you're young and while you can.

Most of the traders are millionaires by their 30s.

Thing is, Will it ever run dry? I always had this idea that they want us to think that it'll run dry sooner than we all realise..

Oil running dry is not technically no more oil left on Earth per se. It would just be more scarce, harder to find, and may be unreachable in some places (like under deep ocean seabeds)

But the end result is still the same from an economical perspective. BOOM. Meltdown.
