Could anyone give advice on Neratel?

It consistently pays CD of 3~4c (late April to early May) this translate into a v attractive yield of >7% depending on your average weighted cost.

The stock will start to fatten up from 4Q to XD date.... wondering if it is a good idea to buy some soon and offload them before XD.....

You can certainly try this move...except that many people would have thought of such of a move. The CD symbol would appear right next to any stock pending dividend payment. Some people even pre-empt such moves. I have seen that before in other stocks. The stocks start falling before it reach the XD date, like the XD date was out of reach. The key question for this move will be is it worth it?

I personally prefer not to make such moves and would go for other moves. This is my personal opinion and you should make up your own mind or be prepared to risk some "tuition fee" :)

Yea the CD symbol will appear next to the counter when CD is declared somewhere during Feb~Mar period.

However, looking at the graph, the stock tends to fatten up Dec~Jan, which is several months before the declaration of CD (before the CD symbol appears).

Was wondering if this move (buy months before CD is declared and dump before XD) is feasible for short term trading?

Guolong, I guess you can try it out :)

As the share price usually dip in similar amount as the declared dividend once it is declared, so there is usually no real gain over a very short period. But the average dividend yield is tempting. :)

What a crazy week we had, bulls were firmly in control and it was basically anyhow buy anyhow huat. Situation changed yesterday when HSI tumbled from +400 to +50, i still expect a big sell-off coming later if not today. Im still trading heavily into HSI puts and advice everyone to be cautious with their stocks picks. good luck everyone!

Tell me about it... I brought into Cosco & Ascott on Wed morning, was pretty satisfied with the decision until yesterday late morning when things turn around... Standby to cut loss.

Look at my past calls and decide. "i still expect a big sell-off coming later if not today."

But honestly i do hope it doesn't happens, i don't want market confidence to go down too.. But i hope a good job report card later tonight will negate the selloff.

My HSI Put warrants are skyrocketing and if that doesn't indicates anything, nothing else will. Good luck!

I'm out, took a 1.6% loss. Executed in advance of the originally intended cut loss price. Gonna have to cut down on the curry puffs this month. lol

Europe mkt had it bad, US futures doesn't look promising either.

Man, what could have cause such a sudden reversal?

Simple... look at all the rubbish reports that has been coming out of US. Even our local PMI data has not been encouraging. Inflation has also been high up with MAS using the SGD to hedge against inflation rather than increasing interest rate. This is hurting our domestic export and also lowering the revenues of companies that deals with US dollar. With US unemployment rates still at 9.1%, markets struggles to rally. I'm hoping for the report tonight to show that US unemployment rates goes below 9% but i highly doubt it would happen as major banks are still trimming staff. Lets all hope for the best!

What a crazy markets we had these two days, with US market closed for labour day yesterday, regional markets have been taking cues from European markets causing a major sell-off. A nice rebound today leading markets to close from their day lows boosted by US futures and a green europe market opening. Should US close more than 300 points down tonight, be prepared for a major sell-off again when market opens.

Its not the time now to take positions on either side with no clear indications on market moving(although i feel its downward bias), but intraday traders should still be profitable for now.

Good luck everyone!

Wah recently this thread so quiet... so many tio burn ah..

Breaking news: Capitaland finally did their first share buy-back!!! Hope this CFO Lang keeps it up!

Good luck everyone!!!

is this good news or bad news for us? haha

Good news for investor.

When a company does a share buy-back, it reduces the public free float and thus allows the share price to appreciate. Company only does this when they believe their share price are undervalued and to increase shareholder's value.

Lots of short coverings in the market today after US drop less than expected yesterday night and Obama announcement of a $300b proposal to revive the US economy. This might be a turning point that US markets need. Let the markets decide tonight and good luck to everyone's trade here!

is the rally sustainable?

of shld lock in profits?!

Hmmm... don't really see any rally.. only very volatile trading going on. If you are talking about a rebound then yeah... but over all.. market still quite bearish.

A easy way to make sense of this chart is to add a 30ma line which is brown in my chart.. and long when it goes above it, short the market when it drops below it. cut-loss price if drop below/above the line.

Catch a good rally and you would earn a decent amount.

This is the simplest form of looking at market directions and suitable for new investors who might want to minimise their overall risk in the market.

Hope this helps and please do your homework too as usual.. Good luck everyone!
