firstly, i would like to mention that i have already done my homework and try to google around for answers, but didnt really manage to solve this problem leh.. read liao also very blur.

my friends faced it too. when we connect to the internet via wireless, the connecton on our laptops shows that it is connected. but there is no internet when you try to use.

you must disconnect, then reconnect, then you can use the internet. then the internet will be available for a short while, then when you try to use the internet again, its not working. but it shows that you are connected leh.:dot:

why ah? sry for the WOT btw.

anyone face this problem before too? managed to solve it?

I would say a few things about your internet connection:

At least you're seeing that it can connect upon the second try (but for a short while only). That's a positive sign there.

Anyways, how is your home (or is it work?) network setup? Let us know the equipment that you use to connect your computers to the internet?

Also, have you tried plugging your computer directly to the internet router, as opposed to connecting to it wirelessly - to see if this is an issue with the wireless signal? Like signal to weak, signal dropping often, or computer too far away from the wireless router?

Also, have you had that issue before?

Good thing that you've done your research first, but bro there's no penalty not to do so. Also u don't need to be formal and stand on ceremony mah. In this forum, there's no such thing as a 'right' or a 'wrong' question - I feel nobody should be penalised for asking any kinds of questions, as long as it's legitimate - no sexy lady massage or how my dog chewed my homework topics here plz. That one way off topic liao ;)

What is the internet service you are using?

What modem are you using?

Any router?

And I won't mind any sexy lady massage in exchange for answers.

my desktop is connected to the internet via the wire. as for my desktop, no problems. perfect.

my laptop is connected through the wireless. so when my laptop is just next to the modem, i try to connect, it shows that it is connected successfully. then u browse internet for a while, then suddenly cant browse, but it shows connected. as for desktop, still connected to internet and can browse.

my friend also got this problem, you must DC, then RC, then can use again. if lucky, the internet wun go off, can surf with no problem. but if unlucky, internet disappear although it shows that it is still connected.

im using singtel, mio box modem.

and it is my home network. this issue has been around ever since i got my lap top from day 1. my iphone works fine with the internet, same goes for desktop. laptop like got bug lol.

I have not used Singnet or the Mio box, but according to friends who are using, the Mio box gives them this same problem as well, though later they say it will work fine. You can try calling Singnet helpdesk and tell them your situation.

Do the following in sequence. If cannot work, then try the next step. Very common problem with routers nowadays, especially when you use wireless protection such as WEP, WPA etc.

1) Update all the drivers for your network adapter. ie: internal wireless network cards, etc.

2) Update your router firmware.

3) Flash your router firmware to custom ones like DD-WRT, if you're were desperate like i was.

4) Change to a better router

5) Change to another ISP.
