Aprilia RSV4-Quattro a new beginning

Only issue I've had was my battery. Rsv4 requires strong battery power to crank, therefore if battery is weak etc. you probably cant start the bike.. It is also not recommended to add bike alarm (though i did tried but cant fit in due to TINY compartment) or anything that's gotta require some electricity..

I understand that in WSBK, top speed belongs to Aprilia Rsv4 and yamaha's r1. But in terms of stock bikes, i guess Rsv4 is among the top 3 most powerful bikes of the same class?

Hi guys, thinking of getting a rsv4 myself. Concerned about the reliability of the bike in general and especially the eletronics of which i have heard has a number of issues? Would appreciate honest feedback from the rsv4 owners on this before I buy one. Love everything about the bike... but reliability is an important factor to consider. Thanks in advance guys.

 

 

Personally, bike is 1yr-plus with near 7K mileage.No issue with electrical and electronics, but only a leaked gasket replaced free of charge since still under warranty.Heard from mechanic at sporting motor is a known problem and aprilia is aware and made some improvement on gasket.just hear say, not 100% sure.

 

The V4 rumble and stable handling chasis makes every ride special.

 

At track mode, the throttle off and then resume back to ON can be abit abrupt.Mapping? not sure but could be contributed by other factors like my problem of still not learning the right way to reapply throttle with steady wrist control.This bike has huge fuel appetite, 160km, the pump sucks no more fuel....need to plan abit if doing long distant.

 

The biggest problem i have with this bike is that i always worried of losing my license.seriously........

 

Like Adam Child in MCN says when reviewing the hypermotard....Qoute" you might as well hand over your license over to the police."..unqoute...

 

i believe today,most 600 or liter sport machine are just too powerful for the road or perhaps i have aged abit and loss some of my bxxxs....

Exact feel. Cant seem to get enuff of the grunt. everytime just wan to accelerate faster and faster. thankfully, september coming soon. my 3 pts status will be over soon. hahaha. hope to get the 24 pts bk asap. been doin too much rear mirror checkin for the guys in white. sianz. anybody interested in meeting up 05th aug friday nite? timing tentatively at 10pm? as to venue,any suggestions? somewhere nice where we can la kopi and yet still can haf a great view of our V4 beauties?

hmm... i am thinking of getting the tuono V4R, using the same engine as RSV4. but i never owned an italian or a vee engine before.

 

care to share how's the maintenance like and anything to take note of? how far can 1 tank last?

Hi Bros regarding the batt, the 12V batt given with the bike is not reli enough. Try changing to a 14V batt. It'll do the trick. Now i dun have a problem starting and cranking up after the change!

Been riding this machine for almost 9months and i still grumbling over the temperature. Too hot too handle till i need to pick up fast to cool down the temp. Is it advisable to remove the thermostat?

u running on a full system? I'm using titanium full system and i used heat wrap for the headers. and did a coolant flush using water wetter. It helps quite a far bit. The stock exhaust is amazingly hot..

Running fully stock exhaust & coolant.. Thinking of getting redline water wetter. Any recommendations where can i get the coolant?

Reduce heat:

1. Change exhaust

2. Remove thermotat

3. Flush change coolant

4. Samco or any aftermarket hose

5. Carbon fiber frame cover

heat wrap..not advice for ti headers.
