Help, got into an accident..

few days back , a car reversed and knocked into my bike. at that moment forgot to ask for lic and ic and just exchanged contacts with the other party. next day went down to bikeshop and the other party came too to look at the repair costs. He told me that he is waiting for pay and could not fork out the sum at the moment so, i trusted him and actually paid the bikeshop to do up the bike as i needed the bike for work. So did black & white with him and asked for lic and ic.. he told me he lost his wallet and no ic and lic but only have passport and he gave me his photocopy of his passport(he is an 18 yr old, born in 91). We agreed to settle the amount by fri.. I suspect he doesnt have a lic.

 

To bros out there, question is what if he doesnt give the money by fri? I done up my bike and if i go idac nothing to acess my damage. do i just LL suck thumb or can i do something about it.. suggestions pls.. dont wana waste my money to pay something that isnt my fault

duno will tp release info or not, but with his passport u can trying calling TP to ask a basic question such as does he have a valid licence? no harm to u since u r the losing party at the moment.

 

i wonder does shop receipt even good enough as like u say idac or no 3rd party surveyor know what is the damage except the parts repair/changed.

If he dont pay up. Then just drop by a police station, put down a statement about what happened and attach in the photocopy of the passport as well as that fellas contact number.

hi, thank you for the advice. ive checked eddies and i found out he doesnt have valid singapore licence. how do i go about claiming?? am i at the losing end? Because my super4's fork tube is dented, fork seal& oil needed changing + broken mudguard from the front. total repair damage is close to $700

army yes but time frame depend further studies or not etc mah.

 

like sec 4/5, jc/poly so earliest jc is at age of 19 that year enter while the lastest can drag till 21 if direct sec5 to poly finish, while there r even laters one.

 

*since now TS say he got no licence, think that guy already plan from start to use his passport to cover in case anything happen. but how sure is TS that the passport belong to the driver he met is another question. but car number plate cant run though.

since u know he got no licence, no point drag liao, spam him to make him pay or he gona faced much more. if no licence n got ppl let him drive, maybe rich kid? lol

 

btw have u reported to ur insurer, in case later the case duno end up where.

anyway ur claim can only be done via cash cos u cant claim his insurer since he got no licence, think the insurer will reject the claim also.

no way u can claim insurance already because no insurer is going to pay for damages caused by a non license holder. if he doesn't give you cash, suck thumb and bring the issue up with TP. i hope you have pictures to prove, i bet such legal matters are going to drag on for some time and the only thing you get is the satisfaction that another idiot is taken off the roads before he can do real harm to anyone. you lose $700 and lots of personal time though.

fyi,agreement between u n him not a legal document so u cant use that against him in case u wana file a suit.theres no witness to the agreement so the thing is,its gonna be v difficult to squeeze $$ out of that young boy.unless u threaten him or extort from him..but that'll get u into trouble with the law.1st-criminal intimidation 2nd-extortion

best if possible, get to his parents, i doubt if he can do this kind of stunt, his parents wouldnt wan him to end up the other way. so end up both side close story easier. but having his address might be difficult unless npp police officer try to get it from him if he dun pay up, easier job for npp also depend on their stands.

just wait till friday bring him down to motor shop and ask him to settle the the bill.if he dont pay up then you go to the police.

yes, i did take pictures. And i have his home address. Even if i go to the police, what can the police do to help me? I have 2 witnesses + 1 friend that was with me at that time. Is that sufficient?

what harm does it do to you by going to the police? gosh. once the police gets hold of the driver, it can be settled outside court, privately if both party agrees.

What can the police do? Driving without licence, the police can do A LOT of things.

hi, and yes im changing brand new forks. when the driver reversed, my bike is handlebar locked and he hit onto it head on but my sidestand withstood the impact and did not make the bike fall on the side but my fork is dented in on one side and cannot be used.

the guy told me he will transfer the money when he gets his pay.. i have his everything particulars / home address /phone number now if i were to go to police it means that ill pay for my own repairs but if i were to trust him and wait i might still be able to get the amount.

when he get pay? btw this kind of ppl u better beware, u got but he LL dun pay then nth u can do except report to police but arent that limited to his offence only? even so money to claim is through civil suit lei i think if he choose not to pay?

ask him to give you a date, if not he can keep telling you his pay not in and it will drag and drag. if he keeps dragging and dont pay up, invite yourself to his place for "dinner" with his parents. you have all the evidence, furthermore he no licence. the parents might pay up for him since they wont want their son to be involved in possible legal stuff
