Old bike broke down in Malaysia - possible to dispose of here?

First post here and asking for help already

 

My story starts with me deciding to ride up north to Cameron Highlands on a whim with my old (but i thought trusty also) Honda CBR150R. Prior to this trip the furthest I had been was to Malacca, and faced zero problems.

 

But the Honda God wasn't so kind to me this time. My bike's piston got jammed on the highway near Port Dickson and I had to tow it to town. The motorcycle shop took apart the engine and quoted me RM1500 for the repair works. Honda CBR150R parts are very difficult to find in Malaysia.

 

Other than RM1500 being quite a lot of money to me, they bike shop said they estimate the need of about two months before the parts will arrive. Stress!

 

So here I am, wondering about my options. I thought of disposing the bike in Malaysia (the bike is old already) but am not sure if it's possible or how to go about it. Any fellow riders out there know the legality of this or has had experience in such matters before?

Hi . Sorry . to hear about the problem. Singaporbikes forum is almost dead and you may not get your answer. first of all, call LTA. the people there will tell you what to do if you really decide to scrap the bike. how many years coe left? if left many years to go than its really good to scrap it. the high chance is you dont repair. just get a Malaysian towing company to tow to JB then get a singapore tower to get in singapore. if the bike is not recoverable, get the engine out, and show to LTA the engine as thats what they want to see.

Thats my reading some of SBF riders who talked about this in other thread.

During the recent bike festival held near kallang leisure mall, one of towing company call bikebulance had a towing truck there. The head of the team say that they offer towing service from Malaysia to Singapore. The cost is rather stiff and it best to prepare your bike before you travel up North.

 

In the event that there is a breakdown, try to tow it to a nearby shop for repair, it will be very much cheaper for you if you can get it done.

 

In case you are really struck there, call bikebulance : (65) 64255333, they operate 24 hours service. They will either send one of their truck up or they will contact their counterpart to tow your bike.

Thanks for the reply bro. I think i will call LTA. Left 5 years COE, so definitely will choose to scrap. But the toll cost is damn expensive. Was quoted RM1000 which seems to be the market price, similar to the links you had suggested. Very shag, but hopefully LTA can provide some other alternatives. Hopefully that engine plan works haha.
