Guyz , I did not renew my YBR 125 road tax for about 4 months as i did not ride it as i have another bike. A letter just came from LTA prompting me to attend court as i had commited an offence of not renewing my road tax.

May i humbly ask how much is the fine i had to fork out ? Did not noe this could escalate into a court's order ... Tats bad man ...

Be humble on the road at all times coz u'll neva noe wen u need any rider's help...

That is weird. Did they send you like warning letters to your house before the one summoning you to court?

Besides the late fee, the owner of a vehicle is also liable to be prosecuted for the offence of keeping or using the vehicle without a valid road tax under Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act. The offence carries a maximum fine of $2,000 upon conviction in court.

+ late fees: $45 when you renew...

bikes are not like cars.. you can lay it up without affecting your PARF..

laying up costs abt $60++..

but now you gonna pay for the fine and lay it up..

do it before the court date, and you will not need to attend it..

any doubts, find Mr Jordan Chong at LTA regarding this..

he's in charge of the late payment of road tax, and he's friendly and helpful..

I'm going to admit I once didn't pay for road tax for 4 months.

The final letter that came to my house was a letter saying I had to attend court. At the bottom it also stated I could compound this offence by paying their penalty fee and that I did not need to attend court once I did that.

Silly me didn't keep track of my payments. That was a few years ago.
