Just spend that $50 on helmet and gloves.

That school helmets, i used it once and that once is enough.

Terrible.

Ya, if you learn riding in midday, you will be sun baked.

I usually take the evening lessons.

But for SSDC now, the circuit is indoors now.

But still, evening lessons are much cooler. You can better concentrate without the heat bearing down on you.

Anyway after you passed, you can have all the heat you want. :)

donutbiker. Yeah I agree on that. I was planning to get one full face as I've always like full face.

Currently Im using my dad's old pilot helmet. Its those with a button clip one not those double D rings. Very 80s design. Then yesterday during my lesson 4. One of the instructor ask me change. Say cannot have clip helmet. Now I thinking buy ff now or later when I pass? I now on lesson 5. Wanna clear rtt first though.

@zyrofillica ya la. haha. human beings are created with strong curiousity. haha.. sniff sniff. haha.. anyw, i think full face not allowed ba, cause in circuit the visor must put put up. and i think learning u wear full face abit overkill leh...

@donut biker yeah, i just got my helmet from L.A.B, and i asked for free gift, so i got a arm sleeve and the cover head one, duno called what. so put over my sleeves is definetely better.

@Zakaria i think full face cannot coz visor need to be up, unless u get those full face which can push up one?

I am not sure whether is it an 'urban legend' or what, but helmets with no certification are not allowed to be used in riding school.

Well common sense, u are in a driving/ riding school, and supposed to adhere to the rules.

That said, when i took my TP years ago, one of the guys wore a obviously non approved (those open face cruiser helmet, no visor some more) and he passed the TP.

Well, well...

As for full face being an overkill...I saw before a female learning rider using full face.

Kudos to her for being safety conscious, but you have to remember that the lessons are conducted under the hot sun.

If you are take the heat while riding around in the packed circuit, then by all means.

Else, a half face is enough.

After passed, throw that crap away and get a better helmet.

hahaa...helmet + gloves also can generate such a long thread. interesting man.

guess it's a smelly package right?

the legendary cdc power smelling helmets, wonderfully stinko knee/elbow guards (much more ooomphz after the rain!:faint:) and then getting up the bus after class with the 'full package' in order to share it with others (we are so nice, aren't we?)

once we get pass all that smellsss + nice stripey arms (stylo natural tattoo that makes our non-bike-learner friends wonder whats the new trend) + pride that kenna slap, kick, slam, squashed flatter that a flat dried toad on the road by our darling instructors + using all the most shitty bikes you can ever find..........we get that sweet piece of paper and wham! we can get to buy that dream bike we always yearn for, the fancy helmets we can afford, the places we can vroom to any time any day, the cool wind on our face, the freedom on the road.....hmm....all worth it lar.

wah....when issit my turn man?

soon soon...i go and dream about it first! :cheer:

haha. i know it's important lah. sometimes i see those who use the school's helmets all the way till prac 8 and i wonder how they survived all those while.

but to each his own, right?

some people dont mind it and some cant stand it.

it's actually quite simple what. you justify what you need to give you the best performance. what matters is if you can pass. if you think nice helmet + good gloves + sweet smelling knee/elbow guards = sure pass, then by all means go for it :cheer:

i would suggest.....buy an Arai helmet, Fox gloves complete with knuckle guards, motorcross knee/elbow guards and also the same boots that the instructors wear - safety! then sure can clear all lessons cantik cantik, no falls, no wobbling, all pass with 1 attempt! phew!!! :goodluck:

oh yes. big time.

before every lesson, theres the mad rush to get "good" elbow and knee guards. sometimes if you're lucky u get the newer ones, not so bad and the straps actually work properly. either way, after your lessons, give your elbow a good whiff.

unforgettable smell ;)

Like this.... I really wonder how people can use them at all???? Maybe people fall off the bike is not because their skills no good, but because the giddy from the smell lol.

Anyway I had long ago decided that I confirm plus chop will buy everything for personal usage... Now I only need to go find someplace to buy helmet lol.

I have just attended my theory lessons yesterday (and I felt so frigging overaged :( ). I'm at SSDC. Plan to clear RTT first then start pracs, but yesterday met one of the instructors and he said "RTT only lasts one year leh, you sure can clear?" In my mind I was like Ok... he thinks I need a few years....

I understand where he is coming from lah :D At least if I cleared up to Prac 4 before RTT, then I have some grace time to play with.. but I haven't even bought my gear, so no way am I going to go for prac!!!

I think I want to go somewhere where I can try the helmet first cos I never bought one before. I looked at helmet boys but only got a big headache even though they are so convenient!!!!

True true. but then its mostly becos of the waiting time for TP, etc thats y ppl took so long to pass. But y RTT then Pract? Take both at same time la! I wanna tk RTT first oso cant, my first theory lesson scheduled mid next mth, and thats the earliest liao! :sian:

my fren brought me to regina's, which is lim ah boy's brother shop. can go there also! yeh definitely must try the different sizes becos different brands may have different cutting. my fren's head is pretty small, and she had to wear MGP S, while S in other brands quite big for her.

I dunno leh, I just prefer to finish up theory and then practicals bah. That's what I did for Class 3. Cleared my FTT, got PDL and then start pracs.

I need to go find out where these shops are lol. I have absolutely no idea. I have to find them fast if I wanna start pracs. Not having my own gear is one reason why I haven't started pracs. Also I am on meds that cause photo sensitivity (the ever funny 'excuse sunlight' thing actually exists!!) and that is the major reason why I haven't started pracs too.

And ouchies on your theory lesson being so far away..... I enrolled last week, I think I will book my theory trial tests for this sunday bah. Then I can book RTT liao.

Hi, I am a CDC learner, just started only.

The knee guard and elbow guard can be bought at CDC itself ah?

I asked a guy taking lesson today and he says he bought his at Giant Tampines. Is the guard for skaters/rollerbladers type.

I used the school provided helmet. Sure smelled funky but as you concentrate on the lesson, you forget the smell. Not sure if I want to get a helmet yet as I am 'secretly' doing my 2B without letting my mum know.

provided u can find a helmet size tat fits u.

sch helmets tend to be all L size only, if i'm not wrong..

if it doesn't fit snugly, it will fly off ur head if u ever fall....not that i'm sayin u will surely fall during any of the lessons..,

but i ever flew out of my bike before, got cut on chin, helmet got scratched badly, if not for a gd helmet, i think my injuries wld have been worst.

i wore the sch's helmet only once before, on my 1st lesson cos my helmet wasn't approved.

no choice, instructor made me wear sch helmet or have to go home.

smell is :puke::puke::puke::puke:

need i say more?

my 2 cents....is to get a cheap but fitting helmet, it will bring u thru all your lessons, from circuit to on the road + finally TP, quite a long journey leh.

30 over bucks can find already mah. i think it's worth it lah. :goodluck:

Yes, it seems they are mostly L. I wear XL though. Only been through 3 practical lessons so far, heng, haven't fall down yet.

It's not the money for the helmet issue, is how to not let my mum see the helmet so she knows I am doing my 2B. :weep:
