Hi, while I'm not a Pulsar rider, I doubt that anyone would complain about a "aftermarket rim" unless the change was really drastic, such as putting a Phantom rear rim on the front.

Bigger you mean fatter side profile? It depends on whether your swingarm and forks can fit the fatter profile. Doubt swingarm and fork mods are legal as it's an integral component of the bike, for safety reasons.

No two aftermarket rims are of the exact same dimension (judging from what I know of car rims), so there's your loophole to exploit.

Be wary that changes to the rolling diameter of the tyre can affect suspension geometry and performance too.

And if you change diameter of front tyre, speedo reading will be affected higher or lower.

Thanks Kalyan for the info, my intention was to change the front and rear to a fatter rim, as like wat u had mention i doubt the swingarm can fit a bigger rim.

But do you happen to know any shop that sells bike rim at least i can take a look and ask the ppl if there suitable rim for mine.

Thanks alot.

Unfortunately I got no lobang on sports rims; usually it's a good idea to target the main distributors like the Geylang and Ubi bike shops (LAB?) that specialise in aftermarket accessories.

I know of Racing Boy for cub alloy rims but as I don't ride a Pulsar I wouldn't know what's possible on your bike.

As you and I are both using tubeless tyres I believe it is safe to use a slightly fatter tyre size. Ie, one size higher. Any bigger and we compromise tyre to rim seal integrity. But bike shops usually don't recommend it for safety reasons. If anyone has done this and rim swaps in the SBF Pulsar community, they're the ones to follow and take advise from.

Also consider the cost factor - theoretically a Phantom rear rim (130/90 - 17"?) can use some of the smaller sports-touring tyres for Super4s and the like, but they're god awfully expensive!! To no benefit to me because my practical daily top speed is in the range of 100 without performance mods.

You can also see if you can find a "shorter" tyre. Ie, if your imaginary bike for comparison is using a 130/90 tyre, if you can find a 130/60 it will automatically look your same-fatness tyre sleeker and meaner due to less sidewall.

These are the sports-touring/race tyres aforementioned but how they affect your bike's handling, it's for you to experiment at own risk! (I'll like to ignore others' good advise and try that because I do use the Phantom for backroad time trials but $255 for a super4 tyre... Ahem...)

cling cling? When bike is moving or stopped?

When metal cools it contracts and the exhaust on most bikes is the part that ticks away cooling off after a long ride.

If when moving, something's loose and vibrating - check nuts on attachment points.

kaylan thanks for the info.. had check e nuts.. my fren pulsar got e sound 1st. he went to the shop n they did some welding on the pipe n the sound is gone.. few wks later its my turn.. went to the shop n did welding too.. so i wanted to know if all pulsar r like dat or is it their factory welding no good...

Perhaps not anyone at fault but the design of the Pulsar itself. I refrained from buying a Bajaj when I scrapped my Yamaha because I thought the Pulsar's frame was a little too light and thin for my liking.

But that's beside the point, no bike is perfect and sometimes you need a little 'field modification' to keep them going!

The stock exhaust of your Pulsar model may just be vulnerable to resonating with the engine (or engine components') frequency and reinforcing one of the mounting bolts by welding as you mention, may solve the problem of a bolt vibrating its way loose and rattling away. Though I dearly hope it's not one of the exhaust support structures breaking away! But even that won't kill the bike because I once rode my Yamaha with the exhaust secured only to the header because the bolt got stolen!

Pathetic I know but the strength of the header and pipe was more than enough to hold the whole length without any flex. Bikes are just overengineered these days, for safety.

It's not a major issue, just a minor annoyance / design flaw in my book!

Other bikes have worse problems or vulnerabilities :)

bikers_22: Yup the cling cling sound is due to loose nuts, I oso encounter the same problem but it shouldnt be a problem after welding.

KeraKing: My rim size now is original I just wanto increase the width for front and rear by 1 size. Any reccommandation? Thank you!

You want bikes with nice rims and tyre size, go for bikes like NSR SP, sport bikes n such. Naturally, their wheels are wide and nice to the eyes... :)

KeraKing: LOL yah I'm trying to replace my current rim to the size of Super4 front & rear, vtec is selling those parts but I need to check with my mech 1st on installing.

nurhafieza: Looking at rim size of Super4 NSR is smaller than my pulsar hehehe. Bigger nicer mah feel safer when cornering oso.

Will be interesting to see a Pulsar with TW200-like huge wheels :D

But just be wary that the engine will need to work harder to turn the heavier wheel + tyre assembly. I'll worry about the chain strength as well, how much safety factor is there to exploit.

Aiyah not changing the rim already, ask a few mech non of them say its possible. I dun think it will pass inspection too. THank you so much people for the help really appreciated. Cheers!

No worries, we can always dream. Like this HayaPulsar rider from India!

Anyways, the ultimate of road legal big-wheel looking bikes is the TW200.

Phantom looks the part too once rear license plate is relocated to sissybar, with the big tyre, short skirt look. Do not tailgate when raining :3
