Faulty EPS exit Gantry @ TPY

This is pertaining to the electronic parking system gates at Toa Payoh HDB Hub / Lor 6 Blk 490 MSCP.

 

Usually, you stop the bike on the sensor, the EPS exit gantry scans your IU, deducts the fees, and opens the barrier.

 

Sometimes, this EPS gantry leading to Lor 6 TPY malfunctions. Or, someone damaged the barrier and the exit is wide open. Like yesterday, it was rammed and destroyed. (!!)

 

The broken barrier was replaced today but the EPS system again is faulty - when I stopped my bike for the IU to be scanned, the gantry opened immediately instead!

 

I was WTF and didn't want to get a love letter saying I ran the barrier and so hit the intercom button. Lo and behold the lady on the other side couldn't hear me very well and I had to yell for her to check the system and deduct my cashcard.

 

After a minute of shouting the operator finally gave me the instruction to proceed and off I went giving a stern warning - gantry spoil your problem - don't summon me ah!!

 

So in short:

 

If the EPS gantry was wide open, or malfunctioned, is it right to just go through without paying?

Not only that, have you ever been through an ERP-operated electronic carpark which one fine day, decides to incorrectly charges you car rates? That one -->

I got a shock the other day as the gantry deducted $1.07... not from my bike. The bloody thing ignored my bike and scanned the van behind me, opening it for both of us.

There are cameras fixed at the gantry area. So they will know who knock down the barrier.

i work near there too and i'm really tired of pressing the intercomm button..

The cameras are there in case they find a person committing the same offence. Usually if it's just one time they close one eye. It's until it gets frequent they treat it as stealing...using a carpark as a service without paying.

 

Oh, and TS, mine was $20.00, and it happened many times already. Either somebody itchy hand changed the way the scanning system works, or the bloody system is faulty.

It seems that I can 'jam' the scanner using my handlebars. My IU is mounted on the right hand side of the engine cover so the handlebar is in the way if put straight. I have to pose sideways for the thing to read the cashcard properly.

 

Oh well, it's a spraypainted, ancient IU too. No wonder the thing can ignore me and scan the van behind instead.

well this erp system is quite a dammy... last time my bf will always want to cheat at shopping centre carpark during wee hours. he will 1st instead his cashcard in with a pc of paper then exit he do the same thing and no $$$$ will be deduct from his card. The barriar still up and going...

i think no problem getting in without paying cos they failed to charge u unless u did what she said and kena caught ar.
