Hi guys,

anyone of you packing/ using a tyre inflator in your bike box?

Well, I used to bring along a bicycle foot pump along with the tyre repair worms when i go on my solo rides north, but the pump is rather bulky and took upalot of space.

Anyone of you using a smaller tyre inflator or just stuck to those mini gas canistors?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Well, U can grab some of those co2 cartridgte inflator for bicycles.

http://www.phattire.com/inmitipuwico.html

Mountain bike tyres are also using presta valve like our motorcycle tyres.

So comfirm it will fit

However, I'm not sure what kind of pressure this c02 cartridge offers.

So if the presure per cartridge is not enough. 1 dozen of cartriddge on hand will not inflate back the tires.

U might have to do some research to see if suitable before using them.

I think they are really compact

Thanks for the tip. :)

I am looking at conventional pumps, as the tiny canisters might run out, and when it does...screwed. :D

Those tiny canister is one use only. they are sealed and will not run out

Err, actually the conventional valve is called Schrader Valve. The Presta valve is only unique to bicycle which is a thinner valve.

Anyway for me, I am carrying the more portable bicycle pump, something like this,

Althought it takes longer time to fill up the air but it still provide unlimited air supply to your tire. By the way, I am only using a cheap taiwan/china made pump, cost me around $10. But it works for me. Think the brand is called Beto.

Another alternative is those 12V mini air pump. Just connect a 12V ciggy socket to your battery and you will have power supply for the 12V mini airpump. You can take a look at this website for those mini pump,

2 cartridges should be enough to get you to a petrol kiosk to pump fully. At least the big bike kits contain 2. For the smaller bikes, 1 might be enough.

I use a compact bicycle hand pump for inflating schrader valves which also incorporates a compressed CO2 canister inside the handle.

This allows me to quickly inflate the tire (after patching), until the canister is depleted, before I switch over to the hand pump to manually inflate the tire to a pressue as close to recommended as possible.

The 2-in-1 gas and manual hand pump is quite expensive but very useful as I have had to patch my tire on NS highway once.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.
