That reminded me. I sort of intro a young biker & his fellow NS guy to come check out your cigar thread cos they might be keen to take on cigars smoking instead of cigarette smoking.

Great stuff Kitty!

Hi bro throttle, i notice that you just get the Min Ron Nee Encyclopedia few months ago. Beside getting it from hong kong where else can i get it from? I ask the staff at oaks (orchard parade) where they get it from, the staff told me they order from borders but border say they don't have it in their database. No result from ebay or amazon. Bro entity you also have a collection right? By the way when latest edition is updated?

Heard about the latest smoking ban in hong kong, so can we still smoke at havana express or red chamber?

Check out http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/default.aspx?Cat...ban_cigars_3059. Thats the only place I know that still sells this book.

In my understanding, there's only the original edition and the revised edition. I do not think that Min Ron Nee is going to come up with an updated version of the book every once in a while.

Had a really solid RyJ belicoso and aged Trinidad Reyes at the Grand Hyatt tonite. Havent been there for quite a while. Very conducive for chatting and lounging.

We can add that to our list of air-conditioned cigar places.

target next week for an outing?

hi all,

some questions for the cigar intelligentsia here:

- I bot a 5-pack of Montecristo Petit Tubos (US$44) and 5-pack of Romeo y Julieta Romeo No.2 (US$30) at Chinese airports duty-free. Do the prices seem alright? The Republic De Cuba label seems to be properly affixed (i.e. crest bisected by edge of box).

- With regards to the RyJ No.2, the box sez "Totalmente a mano". Yet I read on a website that some RyJ No.2 are machine-made. What's the truth?

- Anyway, I smoked one RyJ No.2 and I concur with Throttle's earlier review:

the RYJ tubo no. 2 is not a creamy cigar, so you wont taste creaminess.

it is a toasty light tangy cigar with notes of wood and leather.

considerably light to medium in body.

Lastly, this cigar forum has been very useful. Thanks! :D

Firstly welcome welcome Encik!

Prices in Chinese Airports are about same compared to Singapore.

I would not suspect them as fakes if they are from the official duty free in the airport. Pacific Cigars HK is the supplier to China.

Dubai Duty Free will be the cheapest though.

RyjNo.2 is handmade 100% but it is the entry grade of the Habanos.

I cannot recall off hand if they do use machines to roll No. 2s then hand bind them.

But that is a possibility. However, RyJNo.2 nowadays I know are all handmade.

Enjoy your smokes. or better still enjoy your smokes with us!

a fren of mine bought me a ryj no. 2 from HK. i didnt really like it though. furthermore it was plugged.

not sure if mine was machine made. but it certainly looked like it was handmade. machine made ones are really ugly arent they?

Posted

Not necessarily ugly but artificial looking perhaps. machine made ones are more uniform in look and the leaves look clearly of a lower grade. eg. Henri Wintermans, Danneman, Villager etc....
