Spectrum: RM$80-00, my friend... the "carrot" refers to us, the fish-eaters... actually, the fish is quite good, something called a "sultan fish", the scales are edible one, tastes like you're chewing on your own fingernail... the rest were complaining all the way about getting chopped like cai-tao, damn expensive...

"Cai-Tao" leow ah... $80rm for One Fresh Water "Cai-Tao" Fish.

Sorry if its abit messy, just roughly plot our route.

I see that you guys encountered the unfinished gravel road between Jeli and Gua Musang. :D

It's a good thing you guys were southbound. That dirt slope is easier to go down than up. On my recent trip, I was heading Northbound from GM to Jeli.

One of the guys on my trip fried his clutch trying to bring his heavy tourer up that slope. :sian:

I would think that fanning the clutch while maintaining a relatively high RPM is a pretty dumb way to go up a slope when one can use low gear and torque.

Oh yes, that 5km of gravel road was terrible. I didn't think much of it, but now that you mention it, most of it was downhill! Thank goodness!

The Jerantut to Maran stretch was the best. Some of the corners are so good I scraped my toe sliders. But it does get boring after about 100km or so.. :p

Nice Map Neo... Quite Clear on the Route The Fab 4 Took.

Perhaps Further East to Kuala Trengganu would avoid the Unfinished stretch.

Mud road certainly not for Street Bikes...

How u Manage on sport bikes... Must be one urk ride... :giddy:

Good thing it was not wet on the Mud...

Well, if we took that route, we would miss out on the best twisty sections :D

Posted

Yup... Did They Say when unfinished Road Will be Ready...

Guess if u Cut across the New Cameron Highland road...

U would still do the 999 corners & miss the unfinished rd

btw Gua - Jeli...

Then of cause u don't get to Eat the $80rm "Cai-Tau" Fish...

Guess its a bit more than the 99 corners I did in Penang...

Ahem.... like 900 more.. ha ha..

Yesh. 5km of uphill gravel for my group of 3. Imagine an Duc999, an FJR1300, and an R1 doing the scrambler thang. Uphill somemore! PUI! I'm never going thru that sh1t road again until it gets completed.

Utter sianness.... :sian:

Fortunately, the 999 and my R1 got thru unscathed. The FJR got bogged down on the slope and burnt the clutch doing abovementioned dumb fan clutch manuever for nearly 10 mins. After cooling down it was rideable. But less than 200km later, it died on the Gerik Highway just a few klicks after Tasik Banding. Fully engaged, the clutch didn't even bite.

BTW, the best road IMO on the whole trip is the Pos Slim route from Simpang Pulai up to Cameron highlands. Especially around the low mid mark uphill. Full of hairpins and decreasing radius corners. A real challenge. Downhill it gets even hairier, scarier and hard-on inducing. :p

Gua Musang rates No. 2 for the excellent tarmac condition, minus points for being mostly full of more-of-the-same sweepers.

The 'legendary' Gerik Highway doesn't really do anything for me. Sweepers, and Mersing-like road conditions... I don't really give a hoot about surrounding scenery or photo ops, so... no points for that, too bad.

Haven't tried the Jerantut route yet. Perhaps next time. :thumb:

Well, Cameron is boring compared to the Jerantut to Maran route aka ChiYen's playground aka 999 turns :D Its just one after another of different corners, hills, dips, corners right after crests, deep hairpins, left right S turns, everything imaginable....

I had even more fun there than on PG, or any other stretch. Pity I had like 10kg of stuff strapped to my seat, otherwise the bike would handle even better.
