Received my hardcopy of VFR1200DCT Service Manual today, which i got it from "sell.com" at S$57 (include shipment). Read through the "DCT troubleshooting infro" page, the self-diagnosis system have so many error info code..... will die of heart attack if DCT failed :-(

Hi all,

Topics : ECM update

The bike experience is explained below :

The problem occurs at low revs (below 3500rpm) where the throttle response is 'jerky'

and not smooth making it particularly difficult to ride when two up. Almost like a 'surging' effect

where any movement of the throttle causes the bike to surge forward or start jumping around as if

it wants to stall. It have to be in first or second gear through ~ 50 km/h limits to stand any chance of

riding smooth and even then it is still quite difficult.

For all VFR riders : Pls recall or try to remember to original bike conditions and voice out if u experience the same condition.

The ECM update (In Europe and certain countries only) is addressing this issue (as read fr other VFR club). 'Snatchy fueling'

The shaft transmission noise 'Clanking' sound seems to be a part of the transmission characteristic. Most users had adapted personally. The ECM update as seen has improved slightly this situation.

Will discuss more during this Saturday night meeting.

I had that 'jerly' feeling last Monday morning when moving off from my carpark. It 'surging', stop 'surging' stop non-stop at gear 1. When I close throttle and open again or open more, the 'jerly' feeling stop but it occurs once in blue moon.

To reset (VFR1200 ECM) short out the BROWN and GREEN wires of the DLC plug (RED cap 4 wire) under the seat. The same as for DTC's.

1:Turn the ignition switch off, engine kill switch ON,

2:Short the BR & GR wires with the proper tool, a paper clip,

3:Turn the ignition ON.

4:Remove the paper clip.

5:The MIL light will come on for about 5 seconds - you must AGAIN short BR&GR in this 5 secs. while the light is on.

6:If the light goes off and starts blinking turn off the ignition. VOILA the ECM is reset. You can remove the special tool now!
