It is official released today at all telco. Got my DHD this morning. After trade in, cost me $198. Now busy setting up the interface!!!

Hmmm... I guess I'm lucky to get mine on the released day. Anyway the phone so far so good. Maybe I switched over from my dated HTC Hero hence can feel a big improvement. Heres my FR,

 

The Good,

 

1) Interface no major lag. Everything is smooth. Even there is, it is bearable. Thanks to the new 1Ghz processor and bigger Ram.

2) Battery life is not as bad as rumoured. If you are average user with minimal surfing, msn and the usual auto sync, the battery should last you one day.

3) Nice big 4.3" screen. Very clear "HD" like quality.

 

The bad,

 

1) The volume is very soft even at the maximum setting

2) The LCD is too near the edge hence when you hold the phone on your hand, there is a tendacy of your palm touching the screen. It either the phone too sensitive or my palm too fleshy.

3) The battery and the sim card/mem card are store at different compartment. Both compartments covered by flimsy looking cover and it is hard to remove as well. I scare I will crack the cover instead.

4) The camera len is protruding out. Not flush with the body.

 

Overall, the phone is good. Until the Nexus S is out, I guess DHD will be the current King of Android phone. Right now got to figure out how to install the Sygic Nav on this phone......

So far I only find it at one of the road side stall near the guan ying temple at bugis. It is those tpu gel type with only bright colour available. Anyway I bought mine online and still waiting. Praying hard the phone survive any scratches before it arrive. There is also those leather type from pdair. Otherwise the most glam one I seen is otter box. There is a person at hardwarezone doing mo for the otter box at $40 plus ea. May consider buying otter box.

Hahaha, I also bought the same thing as you. Still waiting since shipped on 6th December. By the way, there is also casemate barelythere case. I think you should have saw it when you are searching through Ebay. But from the review, Otterbox seems more capable to protect the phone all round minus the screen.

 

There is an online shop selling it. Heres the link, click me. But I can't find any details on it but one forumer point out it will be in next week. I'm waiting for them to update it in their website.

 

Otherwise another nice case is this, click me. Nice alu casing. Price not very ex as well. But don't know shipping how much.

 

As for the battery, I think save it. Just buy those portable battery charger which charge your phone using the USB cable. You can use it to charge other mobile device as well. From my HTC Hero experience, HTC battery is quite good. Those cheap eBay alternative will spoilt quite fast and rumour is that the capacity is usually overquote. You still have to buy a desktop charger to charge the battery. AND I think you should know the battery cover is not easy to pry open.

I was looking through the MO page for Ottercases in Hardwarezone forum and realised the TS is the one whom started the Shop.SJJ.SG website. today, managed to freeze my DHD.. :angle: was trying to copy music from my old phone via bluetooth, about 5GB... and DHD just hang.. no response, not even to power on button, had to take out battert..

 

Funny. I sync my phone on the first day, also with around 5GB data but everything ok. But I did encounter issue with the market. Force close a few time.

I suspose you mean the carpanel program? It only comes with 30days free trial for navigation. After that, you have to pay.

not just carpanel... the "Location" application.. which you can load the map without waiting.. unlike googlemap...

 

have you tried htcsense.. i can ring my phone but map is not showing the actual location....

Cool, didn't know Location application can do that! Will try it. The HTCsense? Only roughly tried it but I know they can't know the actual location unless your phone GPS is on and lock on to the satalite. Or else they can only use the broadcast station to know the rough location. Maybe 100m radius?
