whats Manual Cam Chain Tensioner?

can sum 1 enlighten me?

like wat is it for and how do i noe if i use gd?

ani wae, wat the benefit of changing to aftermarket clip ons like the vortex one?

THKS THKS

Current sportsbikes uses Hydraulic/Automatic Cam Chain Tensioner. Set back is

  Quote
Factory automatic adjusters can back out when the throttle is suddenly closed at higher rpms. This allows the cams to momentarily go out of time and can result in bent valves and/or serious engine damage! Hydraulic tensioners have a tendency to put too much tension on the chain guide under high rpm/high oil pressure conditions, resulting in premature cam chain wear.

Benefits of using a MCCT is you can manually adjust once you hear the tick tick sound.

Aftermarket clips on = lighter, cheaper than OEM + more bling bling factor..

clipons are for adjustability. some riders are tall short long arms short arms etc etc...so depending on your riding style n posture, the oem might not necessarily give u that adjustment u want.

it's not a necessity if the bike is seldom place under extreme hard conditions. but it is gd too. but with all manual stuff, u need to always adjust it. and the term always depends on how kanchiong u are...hahah...sumtimes if u always feel like there's a tick tick sound...then u'll be adjusting it always.

manual cam chain tensioner.

Adjust it frequently to ensure enough cam chain slack(not too tight nor too loose) doesn't develop to cause the cams to jump timing(tick tick sound).

it will sound obvious when u reach mileage ard 10-15k. once u start up during idling u will hear it.

kak kak kak or tick tick tick sound. nt ring ring ring or ting ting ting sound:angel:.

so i guess yours wont have it. advisable to add on when doing valve clearance. since its open up.

Planning on APE also..Just found a Ebaystore and waiting for their reply on shipping time..

Anyway retro, understand that using the APE MCCT, i would need to block off the oil supplying to the OEM CCT, how u block off yours??

once you take out your oem CCT, there is something like a pin on the top hole. remove that and just put the manual cct in place. simple job. two screws and a gasket think ape provides. so no problem. you should be able to get it done.

$90 is good price!

Was thinking of getting the CCT adjuster OEM gasket from GuanHoe later if APE doesnt come with one just in case..
