the other day i went to equipmt extreme with my fren.. n asked the boss if got any case covers/savers..

he recommended this product called "mid-frame sliders" which was so-called invented/pioneered by him.

 

like wat u said, it's longer than normal sliders, n is located just above the footrest.

 

in case of a crash or slide, he said it is supposed to protect ur fairings n of course even parts of the engine which protrude out of the fairing.

 

$90 for a pair.. compared to case covers/savers which cost USD$150+ per set..

 

but i dunno how effective it is lah.. anyone here uses it?

 

It seems like if he patents all the stuff he invented...I think he would be quite rich by now...

Sliders in simple terms are meant to stop your bike from sliding should u low side..Which also means they are build to be grind off providing a friction to slow down and stop ur ride before it causes more damage.

 

1 that definitely grinds is Motovation. Not trying to promote them here too..

 

Did know of a shop who attempts to file(Metal File) & grind(Belt Sander) down Equip.X sliders before, hard as they tried but to no valid results.

yeah of course crashing is not one of our choices! last resort then gotta depend on our sliders to minimise damage to the bike already..

True..But depending on hw the crash is, sliders sometimes do help to minimise damages..Of cos putting high speed crashes out of the equation as well as high side..

 

Learn something similar from a friend last time on why branded aftermarket rearsets cost most as well, explanation is similar to sliders but the difference is the pegs is design to break off on hard impact.

 

He has actually saw 1 bike using those unbranded replica rearsets whose pegs didnt broke off and it resulted in the mainframe rearset holes being broke off instead.

From what i understand, gixxer doesnt comes with a mount hole for that...

 

If i understand the concept of the clutch sliders correctly, i design to prevent damage to the clutch case in an event of a low slide.

 

So why nt get clutch/crank case savers instead??

 

Aint cheap but does the job well..

the diff between motovation sliders and equipment extreme sliders are, motovation ones comes with internal metal support inside the slider while equipment extreme ones dont... maybe now they hav, i dont know...

 

last time when i buy from equipment extreme, i visited their shop and they ask me to pay deposit and come back the next day... went back the next day, he was late and i had to watch him feed his dog... after that he went off to buy material, then he start making my slider... had a hard time opening up the bolt to the engine to mount the slider... he even tried to use a round all-angle allen key... i neva went back there...

 

after using the equipment extreme slider for awhile... i'm getting frustrated with the it... as the slider doesnt come with the internal metal support... and u keep tightening... u can neva get it tightened...
