TPS is 2 small piece of electronic device which is located near the throttle bodies, below the airbox. 1 on the left & the other on the right. It'll probably take not more than 2hrs to remove & reinstall the TPS.

 

I suppose the reason for you to leave ur bike there is perhaps there're lotsa other R1 '04 bikes for 'em to change the TPS as well.

 

If I'm not mistaken, I've read elsewhere that YAMAHA is undergoing this recall campaign due to that, there were lotsa complains from R1 04 & 05 riders. I suppose, this is it... :thumb:

if i'm not wrong, they only have to replace one.. not both..

true enough, i do agree `e reason for the overnite stay is cause of lotsa r1 goin back for the change.. dunch think only 1 or 2 bike coming in per day ba..

correct me if i'm not wrong, the factory safety recall also calls back some fz6 models ++ and not just the r1.. so in short many many bikes coming back lor..

 

pls note guys,

not all 05 models would be called back..

my friend whose riding the 05 model called back hong leong when he saw the ad on the papers..

he was informed that his bike is not involved in the campaign..

only certain bikes pre-installed with that specific "defective" tps will be called back..

so just wait for the letter aight..

else call em up to confirm lor..

yup.. i went to Hong Leong yesterday and asked them for the appointment. My date given was already 28th of nov. One of the mec claimed that there are also other bike models that are recalled. so there is really alot. not to mention that they still got other bikes to repair (meaning those that are not recalled but went there for servicing or maintainance)..... i was told to leave my bike over for a day on 28th. so will have to come down and collect it on 29th.

Actually, the classified one is my friend's... he having sale till today selling @ S$ 130.00. else its @ S$ 150.00. attached is a pic with R1 on it. its not a simple piece of metal. its take a lot of engineering studies to get it right. if it is so simple and can get cheaper out by bending outside and can withstand the weight up to a hayabusa, then everyone would have gotton one at home already. for your info, the cup itself to make outside will cost S$ 50.00 each with welding.

Yeah... They do not require to replace both TPS. However, they'll need to measure/test the resistance of both TPS to find the faulty 1.
