hi all R1 rider.... do u guys have 2nd bike? i mean smaller bike for travelling around singapore or may be transport to work only? if have what bike are u riding for 2nd bike... im sure riding R1 all the time will also inconvenience more over if your work place dun have proper parking space...

For myself, I stick to my R1 wherever I go. No secondary bike, but then again, my workplace is only 10+km away from home, so it does not make much difference....Nearly wanted to get a XR400, luckily reality brought me back....

To have another side bike or not is really very subjective. Reason being is that some may feel that it will be a waste if u got a R1, park it at home and ride it during weekends is a waste of insurance and road tax.

 

But for me, i am riding another wr200 for transport and very occasional trail with my friends. Unless u are thinking of getting a really very fuel economy bike like wave125 or rxk which doens't burn a whole in your pocket for u to maintain, its perfectly fine

 

To me, the advantage of having a side bike, my R1 is less prone to accident, less prone to wear and tear ( take a look at my bike and u will know why. Not refering to engine or fairings, but things like chain and sprockets ) Spend less on maintenance for my R1 and of course making my mileage and engine last longer

my idea is exactly like urs... great minds think a like ..... if i i can get another side bike at least the petrol will be alot cheaper... and im 100% AGREE with you that the r1 will have less wear and tear hence will bring maintenance cost lower.... not only that... since i gotta travel when working... travelling on R1 bring stuffs on the bike or in the bags with laptop and other stuff is not great.... i might be getting another bike eventually mm....
