I am thinking of installing a fan to my Air Box to increase the air pressure of the air intake... What you guys think about this idea... Higher pressure Air would give more power to the bike...

I will connect a FAN or two and seal it at the Airbox inlet. during operation, the fan will blow air into the airbox. this increase the pressure or ease the air fow...

Now all I need is to find a high power fan that can fit onto my airbox. :cheer:

correct me if i wrong... if you increase air flow then fuel rate oso need to increase rite, to have optimal performance.

i dunno do bikes do RAM air?

like cars, sometimes they have a inlet in front of the car so when move forward, the air is actually being "forced" into the engine..

The pressure increase you will get with a simple fan is minimal, will produce virtually no difference in power.

If you look at any supercharger you will see that it takes several HP to power it. For an electric supercharger (fan) you could be talking about an electric motor that could consume 2000 watts.

Dude 2000W fan? don't think my Bike batt can last long with that kind of power comsumption... :cheeky:

You will have to work out the theoritical airflow of your engine at max rpm. Whatever you want to put in there must then be able to "pump" in that amount (in theory, more or the same as what you engine can suck in). Otherwise, the device will impede air flow.

Do a Google on "volumetric efficiency" "Engine airflow" etc .. to get the equations. Number of pistons, 4 stroke and 2 stroke requires different parameters but the principal is the same. You may have to tweak your carbs/ EFI to compenstae for the increased airflow.

Air travels from a high pressure environment to a low pressure environment. The air in our tyres are higher than that of atmospheric (our environment), thus we know the air in the tyre will "escape" when we get a puncture or when you press the valve stem. Likewise, the air pump operates at higher than atmospheric pressure to put the air into the tyre; as the flat tyre is at atmospheric pressure. The higher the difference in pressure, the higher the velocity the air travels.

Ramair works by generating increased pressure within the airbox when a vehicle is travelling at a high enough velocity.

The pressure exerted by the "sucking piston" creats a differential between atmospheric and that of the engine, thus by building pressure in the airbox, that differential is increased. A higher differential means more air molecues can be "packed" into the same volume at a quicker rate.

I am already running rich, at least that's what my Plug condition shows... So now, I am trying "pack" in more air into the airbox to make the A/F ratio to the lean side. I must get a FAN that can generate a higher flow of air (no need MAX RPM, I only wack MAX 7000RPM, normal about 5000RPM). OK I will check it out...

Next, my SV got fake RAM Air intake, I will try to make use of them by using those AH BENG's car air hose/duct (with the correct diamter, that can fit under the bike fuel tank)... but this one need to open 2 holes on my Air box, non reversible mod!

wet plug at idle or high rpm? Wet plug at idle could be an idling circuit issue or choke circuit.

The carb is not a perfect device, at best it is designed to work optimally at certain throttle openings. Have you consider a dyno test to get it properly jetted?

yeap.. considered it... any reccomendation where to do it? fellow SV rider feedback that local authorised Dyno agent also have their problem, Can't find the thread anymore, but I think it something about old equipment, some error, etc...

Also what's the price like? else I just go for a carb sync and tune.

i oso interested to send my bike for dyno test/tuning, but not sure where to do it?? Have anyone done it before & have any +ve diffference??
