Bike of the Year: K1200R

BMW’s K1200R has been named Motorcycle of the Year by US magazine Motorcyclist.

They say it had the most profound inpact on motorcycling in 2005.

This is the first prestigious award the 163 bhp naked bike has received.

“Give BMW credit for doing what Japan wouldn’t or couldn’t do: bolt serious horsepower into a big, comfortable naked bike. This German translation leaves its contemporaries looking relatively underdressed when it comes to technological accoutrements,” said Motorcyclist.

The R1200 GS and R1200 RT also won the awards for Best Adventure and Best Touring Bike respectively. The GS is the current holder of the MCN award for Best Trailie.

This year’s Motor Cycle News awards will be announced at a prestige event at the National Motorcycle Museum in November.

The years thunder by.

The drams of youth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on the shelves of patience.

Before we know it, the tomb is sealed.

Where, then, lies the answer?

In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

I saw a 98 R1100R ad by Excel selling at $9.5K. Is the bike condition and age matches the price? I havent seen the bike yet.

Here is a Good deal ... I think. Model R1100R - yr 2001 for S$9000/-

http://page.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/auction/91717115

I have asked the owner one or two weeks ago and below is his statement....

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Sean,

$9k is just the starting price for the auction; this is way below the bike's value. The buy it now

price is $13.5k and the price can be a little flexible around that point but not anywhere near

$9k.

It's a great bike and a very fair price.

Have a good day

i feel that its fair to say that $9k is too low for a 01 1100R.

well, if someone bid S$9100/-, ain't the seller legally suppose to honor the agreement.

Knowing how 'active' Yahoo Auction for bikes are .. think can get at good deal ..

I think there is a minimum selling price to be meet too if I am not wrong.

By the way, I have found a seller selling at 12.5k for a 2001 R1100R...

The bike condition is good coz I have view the bike.
