I LOVE the BMW. Simple to fix, fun to ride and it's got real character. Okay, I've done a lot to it, but I put that down to correcting years of neglect, now it's sorted it's as reliable as any bike could ever be and I should say that during all of these trials and tribulations, it has never once broken down - it's always got me home. If you know where your socket set is and you are not afraid to use it, I'd definitely recommend buying one. To be fair to the BMW, how many Jap bikes can you buy that have over 100,000 miles on the clock, that are over twenty years old, but which can be rebuilt for a couple of hundred notes and be as good as new?

and battery need to be changed...result of wear n tear...mech quoted

repairs to be 800+...

Juz wanna noe whether price quoted by him is justifiable...coz i think

the price is a bit too high...moreover i just changed my starter motor

bout 1yr ago...

Which workshop did you go to start with? Do find out what is replaced for that value. That price shld be for a alternator change. Do check if the regulator is working. Other options would be to rewound the alternator or the starter as well. This shld lower the cost.

Other thing to look out for is the hall sensor. Hope this helps. Ideally bring it back to PML for a check. They warrant their work as well.

I went to stanford to get it done...n i asked him for a 2nd hand alternator instead...got it at bout 300+...and a new set of battery at 110...haiz...damn suay...

he said out of 100 gs riders only 1 will experience alternator problem n that 1 rider

happens to be me...

Nyway thanks for your info...appreciate it....n do u top up ur engine oil regularly coz the mech says no need to do so and i dun feel comfortable riding the bike when my engine oil is low...

Top oil to factory recommendation.

From the problems you have encountered its likely lack of care from previous owners. But this are regular maintanence issues and not unlucky ones. Wear & tear my friend. Part and parcel of bike ownership. :)
