Hi Phang,

I did not go to PML, I got Dili Trading to get the replacement parts.

Hi F650GS,

One question, can our bike keys be duplicated by any key makers? Or do we have to go back to PML to get a key for $58?

The ABS lights were flashing alternatively. According to stamford motors, the ABS should be working fine. He suspects the brakes. The previous owner believes that a fully charged battery will solve the problem. I guess I just have to ride it more often to get the battery to charge up.

Hi, just go pml get a blank key for $13++ and go cut outside. the blank key currently in stock....:p

Hi f650gs,

Can we get blank keys from normal keymakers out side?

I'm got a question on valve clearance and throttle body synchronisation. I've been to Dili for other services but it seems like their mechanic is not willing to do the valve clearance and throttle bodies synchronisation for me.

I'm feeling vibrations from the handlebars at 4.5k rpm and above.

Is Mtechnik good with valve clearance check and throttle bodies synchronisation of R11?

Thanks,

Can cut key with guy next to LAB. Cheap.

Valve clearance not difficult job, tho I've no experience with M-Tech.

Civicblade; checked whether front wheel is balanced?

cheers

m-technik is reputable for their work on bee-ems.they service GS11 so i believe they can do the R too as their engine platform is the same.

the dili mech not willing to do those jobs despite the shop deals with BMWs? dat's not professional ,is it?

I've just changed to a new front tyre. MeZ6. Installation comes with balancing. But I'm not sure if the installer did a good job with the balancing. Anyway the vibrations at the handlebars were there before the tyre change.

I've attempted to perform throttle bodies synchronization with 2 industrial vacuum gauges rating up to 1bar vacuum. I'm not able to get good readings as the gauges were not damped and the needles keeps floating around.

they could be only selling and buying bmws and maybe the mech not confident in doing tts why they decline? I rather they decline to do it then to say they know which maybe they don't and screw it up.

My rear wheel was draggy. Seems to be worse after the rear brake pads replacement by Dili.

Decided to remove the rear caliper to have a check. Turns out that the mechanic at Dili did not clean the pistons when he force it back to accomodate the new thick pads. Furthermore, the pin that was holding the pads was badly corroded. The brake pads are not sliding in and out on that pin smoothly.

The rear disc was worn out much more than the front. It could be due to draggy rear brakes over the years.

The pin looked bent to me, probably an optical illusion. I'm getting a new pin, a temporary solution is to put a lot of grease on that corroded pin so that the pads can still slide.

The rear disc cost a lot of money. I remember paying $90 for a TDM900 rear disc. The R1100R rear disc could cost up to $300? or more?

That's why I always go back to PML for my service and brakes change etc.... unless you are like bro Phang, who DIY, then it is different...

Hi civicblade,

You might want to check the guide pins of the sliding caliper too. If those pins are not lubricated, the caliper will not slide properly. I cleaned and lubricated mine last week, those pins had no trace of wear and tear at all, well maintained :thumb:

Work of PML? Haha.....

Anyway, before I sell too much of PML, they have their downsides too.... for example, once I have a fouled spark plug, they towed it back and changed the whole electrical harness ($300), I rode to work and the same problem occurred(backfiring). Then they realsied it is the fouled spark plug.

Kris Chew also has some bad attiude at times and I feel we have to put up with him... spent money already also not shiok...haha....

Hi Phang,

Thanks for the photo.

I've just finished the job of cleaning the rear brake piston and renewing the pad slider pin and pad spring braket. It comes as a set from PML spares counter.

I've did exactly what you have shown in the photos. Cleaned up the sliders and lube it with castrol grease. Now the caliper floats smoothly on the pins and I believe the new slide pin for the brake pads will ensure better extension and retraction of pads and pistons.

The old slide pin was badly corroded.

Finished the job at 930pm, no time for a test ride. Will test the rear brakes tomorrow night.

Well done bro:thumb: , you bought the rear brake mounting parts kit Part#34212330313 right? I reuse it as its still in good shape, save me some money.

Hi Phang,

That's right. I got the kit set.

I like the experience of buying parts at PML. The parts counter service guy, Adrian was friendly and professional. We can place orders for parts that are not in their inventory and the lead time is 3-4weeks. The parts counter staff told me that it is their SOP to call the customer when the parts arrived. Hoep they really follow the SOP.

Nice environment with free coffee and milo. Big screen to watch the news and sofa to read the papers while waiting to collect the parts.

Payment in cash, nets, credit card and cheque.

Not to mention air-conditioned environment.

Might not be easy to find a parking lot if you are driving there.

Prices of most common spares are not that far off from Honda's pricing. For some of Honda's model that was manufactured in Europe (e.g. Varadero in Spain) the parts price are way off the roof.

Went to the bike showroom and was strike dumbfounded by the prices of new bikes..

S$38100 for a R1200GS... I did not ask if it was on the road price.

The K1200R at $39000.

I don't think I'll ever to able to get new BMW bikes.

Maybe it is a good business opportunity to start parallel importing BMW bikes into the region.
