One of the best things about owning a BMW is the parts support. Wonderful. Parts for all models, from old models to very latest. The aircon, clean environment, english-speaking staff, nice LCD-TV to look at, free gourmet coffee, nice proper receipts, proper bike-park, telephone enquiries .....

.... of course all of that means fxxk-all if the bike dies along a lonely highway. :)

Cheers

Went to the bike showroom and was strike dumbfounded by the prices of new bikes..

S$38100 for a R1200GS... I did not ask if it was on the road price.

The K1200R at $39000.

I don't think I'll ever to able to get new BMW bikes.

Maybe it is a good business opportunity to start parallel importing BMW bikes into the region.

You have to add these to get the PML OTR price:

a) Insurance ~ 950

b) Roadtax 12mths ~ 414

c) COE ~ 1109 or prevailing rate

d) IU ~ 153

e) IU bracket ~ 120 (Seng Kwang)

f) Registration ~ 140

:giddy:

ah leong always say ... dunno? dont do!

But the market for BMW is small here, only about 600+ beemers in a total bike population of 100,000++ bikes. So may not be viable.

disagree, you can get them to tow the machine back to PML for you FOC, including a breakdown in M'sia...

but it will have to be repaired at PML, which will probably include the cost of towing....

alternatively, u can get on the phone and call UK and the parts will arrive in 7 working days.:thumb:

not true....PML DO NOT add the cost of towing to your bill..... I have my BMW towed back from my house to PML due to no riding for almost 7 weeks (battery flat).... the cost of towing is $120( I saw the bill) and I was charged $50 for an engine analysis.... Kris Chew told me to ride it to PML if I am no riding for a long time. They will maintian the battery FOC for BMW owners....

The catch is your bike must be PML maintained....

This free towing cover is from Thailand to Singapore....

Is it normal for the R11 engine to have a loud chain rattling sound at idle when the engine is fully warmed up?

Mine rattles and I think it comes from the timing chain.

Does the R11 engine comes with automatic timing chain tensioner? Or do we have to adjust the tension of the timing chain periodically?

Posted

Got tensioner. Automatic adjustment unless broken i.e. due for replacement.

cheers

hmm ... this is what i was told:

Cost of towing in Spore is FOC, provided you are still on the 2yr warranty. After that, its at the discretion of PML whether they want to extend the goodwill.

Cross the border and you are on your own. Towing in Msia you have to find yourself although PML can assist in giving some numbers to call. PML will take over on the Spore side.

The tow truck is big. Comes with a motorised ramp. One bike on the tow truck meant for towing cars. Quite a view, really.

ah leong always say ... dunno? dont do!

Hi guys,

I need help from you guys to point out the crush washer and the o-ring that I have to change during oil and oil filter change.

Need to get some from PML spares counter but I cannot really pin point which is the crush washer for the oil drain plug and which is the O-ring for the oil filter.

Thanks,
