Welcome welcome to our little thread. Will ask my mech if he got any thing for ya.

Phang, I will try the blissful union of BMW o-ring and aftermarket cap and see whether it'll leak.

Nice goodies you got there; I love receiving parts from overseas, like little surprise X'Mas gifts (by myself, keke). Did some metal repair this weekend, I think steel epoxy is great stuff.

Hi all,

I am new to BMW bikes, need some advise here.

Everytime I start my R1100RT, upon starting, the bike's RPM shoots to 1000, and remains there all the way even after warming up. Even when I started riding, the RPM remains at 1000.

Compared with all my other bikes owned, when I start the bike, the RPM usually shoot high to 2000, but after warming up, it will drop to 1000 and idle there......

Is it a norms for boxer engine to remain at 1000 all the way before and after warming up???

Please advise.

Thanks.

Morning. fk13, your rpm should move when you move off cos' otherwise it seems your tacho is broken :)

Seriously, not much variation in idling speed for me after the bike is warmed up.

Hi, all my ex bikes including my current boxer engine idling stays the same throughout no matter warm up or not.... only my car have high idling when start up and goes down after warmed up

I think i will be alarmed if the idling shoots up and come down after warmed...so dun worry it is perfectly normal.

Hi to all,

Thanks so much!

I have this query basically because I used to ride an EFI CBR1100XX, where the RPM will shoot to 2000 when started in the morning, and will drops to 1000 after warm up....

My R1100RT has a mileage of 35 000km, is there anything to change or standby to change?

Thanks for advising.

Change bike .. keke ...

Just ride the bike now, and see whether you like it as it is. At 35k your bike is still relatively young.

Assuming that your bike is near or at 2nd COE, I would watch out for fuel and brake hoses which may have weakened due to age. Those are not expensive to change and yet will save you a bundle of inconvenience. Also I think the RT mirrors you will have to safety-line them as I have seen some with loose mounts.

Cheers

the man, is speaking from experience....:p

and yes the mirror mounts are a problem as well.....i cable tie mine...also note that some of the fairing mounts go as well and may require cable ties...my left side panel dropped off on my way to work along nicoll highway, that was an interesting experience.

Hi, how old is your RT? if its more than 8yr old then 35k km mileage is quite low

Yes, it is nice.

Guys, check out the interest this K1200LT sale is generating; unfortunately for the wrong reasons. Hope the owner can sell his bike without pain.

common brands are HEL,Goodridge and Venhill.Mah motors (the small one) does them. There's also Vector 1.Ur hoses may need to be made to measure coz i beleive they cut off from a whole reel.u can choose between fixing up 3 or just 2 for ur front brakes.
