hitachi depends on the number of years of loan. can range from 4.25 to 5.25%.

multiply that by 3-4 years x your loan amount the difference can be pretty substantial

my IU is on the left side of the handle bar. thinking of another better place to put it since i applied for the Cashcardless MotorPay thinggy by your credit card every mth

Hi Guys ! what is the intest% for 2nd 1200GS ?

Bro, this is just a guess but I would say 3-3.5%. Ultimately depends on the financier, could be as high as 4% though in current climate who knows!

I think voltmeter is a direct connection to the batt, should not be difficult. Now I subscribe to "less is more", i.e. less or simpler stuff on bikes = less things to break down :)

F800GS - The Motorcycle of Choice

I wonder what is the reason for PML (of Sime Darby Motors) to charge a SIN$10,000 premium on the machine price of each F800GS.

This is TEN THOUSAND dollars more than dealers in LONDON, U.K. . One of the most expensive cities in the world.

Yes there is a shortage of F800GS to meet the surging world demand, giving rise to a 9 month shipping delays (esp. in the end of the globe).

This NOT a Lamborghini sort-of motorcycle. This is NOT a MV Augusta F4 limited edition (only 100 made) sort-of motorcycle.

This IS a strip-down, sans Frills, Tour/Enduro Middlewieght designed to introduce riders into Tour/Enduro yet still belt out high-performance in the hands of the consummate expert.

EXCLUSIVITY:

Imagine the luckless Singaporean buyer. Telling himself that he is riding a F800GS that sets him apart from ... everybody else. He is "Special", but his machine is not. A Bavarian Cheese Farmer could afford the F800GS, which is properly priced in Europe, with the same/better Warranty and Workmanship lauded by PML.

Please note that PML will not take kindly to any BMW motorcycles that they did not sell you at a $10,000 premium. BEWARE: If you come back for Repairs on a non-PML bike, you will have to begin making up for this $10,000.

This must be PML's view: that if we make the Customer pay much much more, the Customer will derive much more Satisfaction. Exclusive, see? Are you getting your money's worth of satisfaction yet? (there's just no other rationale for an extra $10,000)

Riders who are desirous of dealing with Motorcycle Dealership that does not Squeeze its Customers to the point of bleeding through their pores (+SIN$10,000), would take a happy interest in Mah Pte. Ltd. in their new capacity as the local dealership for TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES. PML feels like getting royally shafted and denuded of a lot of money and, more importantly, common sense.

P.S. Have you notice how common BMW cars are these days, second in numbers to Taxis. I am placing my F800GS order today; Money Talks.

quick question guys,

my 1150gs is due for a battery replacement.

some reccomended me to try PML coz of the 2 year warranty period. damage is around 200+

would like to hear 2nd opinions before heading down.

any comments would be appreciated. just dun ask me to go LAB and buy can liao

I will shop around. A battery is a battery, and unless PML's policy is that another battery will void any warranty, I see no point in getting a more expensive batt if a cheaper one works as well.

The important thing is that the batt should have 19Ah capacity, and I personally prefer maintenance free. Yuasa has a few for the R1150s, and I think Panasonic (Panasonic LCX-1220P) too. The internet says the Yuasa model is "51913" but I recall that there was a "N" somewhere on the model number. However, some sites recommend the Y60-N24AL-B but it is a "maintenance-full" batt; see

http://www.cyclepages.com/images/pdfcatalog/STREET2005-00Cross%20Reference.pdf

The US and UK riders recommend Odessey, but I do not think that it is available here. Be careful about the positions of the terminals on the batt.

The good thing is that the R1150 charges while idling, for me that helps a lot :p

Cheers

Go for Yuasa...never go wrong with them.

i once bought an el-cheapo batt for a bike of mine and it went kaput is no time....so far, yuasa's generally last abt 2.5 years before i change them.

Can summarise in short for an uneducated ah pek like me? your words too cheem lah..Talk S'porean Singlish leh.. o_O

Maybe I can summarise for you:-

Price in UK = 6695 Exchange Rate = 2.3 = $15,398

Price in US = 10995 Exchange Rate = 1.5 = $16,492

Price in Singapore, as per PML Price List = $28,700

But they are ever so nice at PML, they will throw in some handguards!

Singapore's High Customs Duty accounts for some of this..maybe 2k. The rest goes straight to a sole dealerships bottom line. It's called monopoly pricing.

I don't propose to be the expert on motorcycle importing and retailing so happy to be proved wrong on the above.

I guess the above didn't take into consideration the import taxes? I think for bike is about another 30%? GST?

Shipping?

Cost of homologation for sale of just a handful of machines in Singapore?

There is definitely a premium charged, but definitely not as high as 10k. If so, then there will be a huge market for parallel import BMW bikes. I guess even if we try to import them on our own, the most we can save is a couple of thousands. Who then should I send to for recalls? Stock of parts? Access to trained technicians?

All agents charge a premium, from Kah Motors to Mazda etc. Just look at parallel import prices. But hardly any parallel importers have a good workshop and after service support. Those that do would also mark up their prices to cover cost.

2000: BMW R1100R

2011: BMW R1200R Classic (still riding)

In the other thread on this topic i expanded this a little. Import taxes are not 30% for bikes...it's broken down in the other thread. But you are right, the premium isn't 10k.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they have any bike above 200cc. Saw some displayed near Joo Chiat during Hari Raya Bazaar.

It's only 125? darn, 250 would be nice. Looks rugged. Who's the dealer?

It was nice walking near the F1 pits, still can see bit of rubber all over the track. Also saw the convoy, quite impressive, there was , what, 300+ bikes? Anyone got pics of Nat. Bike Week to share?

Cheers
