haha... okie Blackie... comments removed :)

but BM bikes as compared to Jap bikes are more costly to repair etc.. so cond is of utmost importance..

anyone selling their F650GS??

sad to say... the cost is almost the same imho. Its a misconception that conti bikes are more expensive to maintain.

To me if a owner really takes care of his conti/jap-bikes the next owner must continue his legacy else it will still give u a headache over time. its almost the same if u really compare the prices..:cheeky:

if say I were to send in my bike to PML to change brake pads & draining of brake fluids for both front n rear, how much roughly will it set me back?

how about normal servicing? engine oil, oil filter n spark plugs..

At least $400 I would guess for all fluid change, plugs and pads.

Just sent a LAID OFF (long time) RT11 to MTecknik... I ask them to get the bike engine to startup first... if startup fine, then go forward for full servicing.

Current problem with the bike:

- Mirror moderate scuff mark, planning to send for patch up and respray. Mirror housing is held by 3 snap on stud, no screw to tighten. The mirror also snap on into the housing. but mounting and holders all kinda loose... donno how much needed to recondition them. 3M heavy duty double side tape them all?

* or new mirror set Ebay US$200, but different colour sianz

- Meter clear plastic, oxidation causing foggy look and some crack mark... can DIY cut and replace them with Polycarb plastic? Or does anyone replace them?

- plastic Dash board oxidation turning white. will need lots of armour all or moisturising cream to hopefully turn it shiny black again.

- Wind shield also slightly blur due to oxidation.. about US$200 for a new one.. Can I get a big Givi wind shield to fix up hehehe

any feedback WELCOME!

I would do an oil change first, tidy up the bike so that after running it any oil seeps would be apparent. Use fresh fuel and change the fuel / oil filters, but I am sure M-Tech will know that.

You can approach PML to see if they will get you the individual parts for the mirror. I would paint the dash than try to restore it by chemicals. BTW, the BMW paint code is on the frame under the seat; most painters will need that to match the color.

Have a sense of humor and deep pockets when getting a bike back on the road.

lol. think cannot like that compare. brake pads each pair range from say 30 to 70. 3 pairs.....could be 90 bucks or 210 bucks. Same goes for engine oil.......and spark plugs. Don't think such items are a matter of BMW bike or others.

Of coz maybe BMW oil filter is damm ex......this one i have no idea.

I think the only shiity part is to wait weeks for spare parts for Conti bikes. Jap bikes generally easily availiable.

That only applies to certain Japanese brands, who's dealers actually love bikes and their customers.

For some of the other dealers, its a nightmare. I think BMW gives better support than certain Japanese brands.

Not many manufacturers have come forth to claim what they've got in terms of fairings, or bellies works... since the bike is not officially on the roads anywhere in the world save for the ones used for racing/marketing etc.

But I'm betting a big yes to your q..

IMHO, BMW parts support is probably one of the better ones out there. Note that I say BMW, not PML. However, if you service/repair your bike with PML, you will be able to get almost all parts for your bike; subject to continual supply by BMW; and hopefully with the work carried out as specified by BMW. That to be is the greatest advantage of sticking with PML.

My statement about BMW support being better is made because an owner can still get new parts for BMW motorcycles dating to 1970s, perhaps earlier. There are web-based parts catalogues for BMW. PML have supplied me parts within a week as well as within a month for the less easily available parts. I am happy with them especially when they are willing to help me order uncommon parts.

I do not know about Japanese parts' prices, but from my own experience BMW and Ducati prices are comparable. As with any bike ownership, I reckon that any potential owner should factor these running costs into his budget and decide if a BMW is suitable for his pocket.

There are ways to save on servicing a BMW, it is a question of whether the owner wants to get his hands dirty :)

Cheers

when will it be ready?

I got no freaking idea... :cheeky:

Met with mech, nice guy, very confident (to the extent of abit arrogant). Took the pain to explain to me the various aspect of the maintenance process. What he gonna do, what can go wrong, priority of purchase.

In the worst case scenarios, the reconditioning might cost more than the bike itself :dot: (CoolCat: I am trying very hard to retain my humor hahahah!)

But looking on the bright side, at least I will not have to worry about the bike for sometime after this. Also They have 0% installment plan. can really ease the load off "Yusoff Ishak".

There's a R1100R somewhere in Singapore with that fairing or a lookalike on it.

A throwback to one of the best looking BMW of all time:

The cockpit on the R90S hosts instruments, can this one do that? Not that it matters :) One concern that I would have is potential buffeting; although that cannot be known until you have installed it and gone on a ride, unfortunately.

Cheers

You may wanna direct your questions to 'bikerblues'. He is the owner of the bike below. He ordered his online and had it color sprayed to match his bike color (can't see clearly in this pic).

But he is overseas now so he may not reply you immediately.
