Revised Models for BMW RT and GS.

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/05november09_bmwintroduces.htm

The bikes are getting more complex these days, some call it cutting edge technology.

Just wondering how many would actually contemplate doing a round the globe trip on one of these machines.

Problem is when it breaks down, say, in a third world country with no proper tools or equipment to repair them.

At least no major changes for the GS model compared to the RT.

For this purpose, simplicity has its merits :thumb:

I'm hoping to meet a few of the riders here on Sunday afternoon. Let's call it 3.30 to 4 p.m.? I will be at Carls Junior at ex-Big Splash then. Free entry, visible parking, great oreo shake.

Hope to see you guys.

Cheers

So who is coming and all are invited?

No invitation needed; just turn up if you wish to. Just chilling on a Sunday afternoon. I'll be the bloke with a black/yellow lid.

Back to carbs, distributer caps and gravity-fed fuel then?

licence plate F* 684Y

At about 1215hr 8 Nov 09 sunday - Lor Chuan

Rider of this touring bike brushed my car's front bumper with his pannier boxes causing some cosmetic damage to my car bumper.

i was stationary in the yellow box (fully in right of way) waiting for traffic to move, while he was was trying to squeeze pass to go to another direction.

after he brush my front bumper (i could feel it so he definitely knows), i horned him and he sped off. unfortunately i couldnt see the make and model but it was a tourer (possibly BMW) and i got his licence plate.

Rider was wearing TP style helmet and sunglasses with a TP logoed polo shirt in white. He looked very much like an off duty TP to me.

If you are reading this, contact me via email or PM and show some integrity instead of scurrying off like a rat. The least you can do is apologise.

After a good cigar i decided to forget it.

it's not the money, it's the fact that a rider who looks so steady can actually so lousy.

Anyway, forget it. Cheers

Thumbs up for this gentlemen. Bless you for having a good heart.

Anyway whether it is a BMW tourer or any other tourer bike. Riding with panniers going thru traffic (esp morning traffic) is never easy. It requires constant concentration and judgement.

I've attached my Zumo 660 to the cross bar on my handle bars so that it sits in my center field of vision. However, i still find it a bit low even wit hthe longer arm on my RAM mount. What I'm looking into is the GS accesory tray that sits above the dash - so that I can fix the GPS there instead.

ZUMO 660 is a great nav system - easy to see in all conditions and easy to use with gloves on. It also links to my phone and helmet communications via bluetooth. I'd just recommend not getting the bike charger 'hard wired'. Insteads I've put an adaptor on the end of the wires (connects to cigarette lighter) so it can be easily removed at night. Did the same with my UI so tha twhen I leave SG on a trip it can be removed and easily stored.

Too young to know any better, too old to care.

At least $400 I would guess for all fluid change, plugs and pads.

If you go to PML it will cost 2 or 3 times what it should. Try Eris at M-Technik instead. He's looked after my GS for years and I have no complaints at all.

Hey y'all from the Boxer community.

I jz bought my 2002 R1150GS few mths back & i jz went malacca last weekend.

Bike gave me a prob before Yong Peng R&R but thankfully it could still run.

So,this is the problem. Was cruising fr 2nd link at about 140/150kmh till about 100+ km thru the journey, suddenly the bike lost its power & sounds very different.I believe its from the left side of the engine.I've checked thru spark plugs(good),throttle cable(good),throttle body(good),choke(in off position),no signs of leakage & battery(good,13.9V)..

Now bike have abit of problem starting & unable to idle when clutch in or on neutral.so i kept going as i have to attend a wedding. My journey back was ok bt plague by this prob.

Never experience dis prob so far i ride in S'pore.

So wad can be the problem???

Ps.Hope someone out der can enlighten me on this.Really appreciate it.

Strange symptoms; that it happened halfway through a ride. My take would be the throttle cable might not be properly seated, or that the TBS's position is somehow off. If there were loads vibration then I'll suspect the alternator belt.

Final suspect is the ignition coil; one of them may be on its way out. Good luck, do let us know what was the cause so we can learn.

Cheers

Call PML and make sure that there is a set with your name on it. My money is on Alan of Perfection Motors for any job. Would be good to get a quote from him and PML and do a comparison.

Good luck.

hi coolcat mine went dead halfway today. But manage to restart.

here is the whole story:

Before it stopped it was really hard to start the bike manage to crank it up after a few time.

by the first turn at low speed it just stopped. start it again without problem and rode for another 30km.

is it normal or something is wrong. I do have a video clip of the whole thing but file size too big for upload.

Do advise

Hi to all,

Would like to enquire where can I get the fairing painted with a reasonable price?

It's just the front fairing, I guess not much paint required? haha.

My color code is 689, Mystic red.

Thanks.

sounds like coils to me.

just came back from pml. Plug in the computer and no fault was found!

the fuel filter/regulator, throttle cable and plugs are new(less than 2weeks old). So in the end they reset my BMC?? and suspect that the throttle body might have some problem. The reset will allow a new learning proccess for the bike?

But they ask me to moniter first before changing it as the bike's mileage is too low for the throttle body to have problem.

finger crossed:sian:
