1st things first, try on the helmet if it's painful, don't buy.

2nd thing, after wearing the helmet shake your head left, right, up, down. If the helmet shifts about it's probably too loose.

Imagine if really choi kena accident the helmet shifts about, or worse slips off on impact, how is it going to protect your head?

3rd check the manufacture date if the helmet is more than 2 years old, you might consider buying another one that is newer. Remember old plastics are more brittle.

Last thing, get one that suits your needs. If you want more protection, get a Full face, no point spending $200 on a Shioe open face helmet when you can get a HJC helmet for the same price. Because if you were to fall face down the $200 open face is not going to stop you from scraping your chin and lips, but the Full face HJC can.

Welcome. I also use school one until I got my bike.

My rationale. I haven't decided what bike to buy, so why commit to a high end helmet.

eg: I spend $250 buy a good scrambler helmet before I get licence, but after passing ride a crusier instead. Look funny right? Then sell the helmet and lose money mare?

Oh and full face helmet quite hot if you buy for circuit lesson use especially in the afternoon. I tried before during my class 2A lessons.

So again, buy good full face helmet also got problem if using for circuit revision. So before buying ask yourself what is your objective of getting the helmet.

check out this thread posted some time back

some of the links may not work now, so you may need to copy / paste into your broswer but it's great info :)

for more helmet reviews, one place i go to is - http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmets.htm

for size / shape read up goto - http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-faq.htm

also avoid getting 2nd hand helmets unless you really know the person you're buying it from, coz a single drop may cause the helmet to lose it's impact integrity

not sure if Motoworld's helmet trade in offer still valid, but no harm calling :)

Grounded... :/

just make sure the helmet fits your head nicely not too loose and not too tight ( a lil bit tight is alright )

and make sure there is the PSB sticker on your helmet :)

helmet ah

first i will decide what type, full face / scrambler-type. I dont even consider half face unless buying for other people

then i will decide on brand. normally arai/shoei is good for me (daily use). for friend/spare helmet maybe hjc.

then model.

impt factors: price, snell approved, fiberglass shell, double d-rings, build quality.

less impt but still worth considering: colour (white), comfort, looks, weight

after all if im paying so much for it i think i better get something im 100% happy with, right.

for lesson just get some cheap sai helmet with psb sticker, you can use it as spare helmet next time.

then get urself a good helmet after u get ur license n buy bike.

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.
