keanan..... i am using hb panniers and 42l kappa box... and it is fine

and to add my two cents worth, 40l panniers will add more space for storage..... and thats it..... the bad things you gonna face.... parking... at town areas.. so small... wind drag slows you down a lot....

if you want space to store 2 full face get the hb topcase 45L cheaper...

the reason why i get the panniers... its supposed to be fitted to my buthcerrete bike... however its hard for her to park on mainstand... therefore to store helmets, it will be at her bike coz she have the topcase.... the rest will be on my bike....

and remember this when you ride its impossible to check your panniers.... so be safe as long as the handlebar is the widest object on the bike... you can squeeze thru safely

Just an update...

maybe doing a ride to Phuket sometime in Dec (provided i'm not called back for reservist)...

will need to take about 5-7 days...

Day 1 night time (set off from singapore)

Day 2 afternoon (Hatyai)

Day 3 early morning (Hatyai - Phuket)

Day 3/4 (Phuket)

Day 5 early morning (Phuket - Hatyai)

Day 5/6/7 (Hatyai) >>> make seat also

Day 7 (Hatyai - SG OTOT meet at GP)

tentative planning...

those really interested please plan ur leave carefully...

i've no experience riding to phuket unless i manage to squeeze time to go to phuket myself before this trip...expect a lot of glitches...

SG to Hatyai should be no problem...

those been to phuket before maybe can help out..

thanks...

anyway i'll still be on vara125...

hey guys, came across this bike when i went to cancel my insurance at mayo st.... its a suzuki 650 freewind... it looks similar to vara.. but what made me stayed on to look closer to the bike is, the bike has a thing at the back tyre... i donnoe what is it called lah... maybe a hugger or smthg.. im just wondering whether it could fit the vara's swing arm... any of u guys noe bout this bike... ? cause what i noticed is that the swing arm has the same length(maybe lah.. cos i measure using my superman's eyes).. maybe that thing could be fix to vara's 125 swingarm.. i am interested to check with CHOY whether he has this stuff.. anyone interested can get it together.. aite?! anyway im just sharing, if u guys find it crap, then nvm...

the hugger thingy have been discussed for quite some time....those who have been touring a lot knows what the hugger can do...

i've used Gobi topcase before and my topcase always have dirt flying off from the rear tyre....need to find a way to keep the dirt away from the other parts of the bike especially the rear suspension..

take a look at ur rear suspension and u'll know why...

we are still trying to find the right resource to duplicate a hugger to exactly fit into the vara swingarm and chain guard..

the closest hugger we can duplicate is from Bajaj Pulsar...

http://photos.friendster.com/photos/39/81/28521893/3092398164238l.jpg

so where does she fit in?

my pillion seat is always empty... :cheeky:

IMF/World Bank Meet is on 11 - 20 Sep

http://www.singapore2006.org/sections/dele...ndar_event.html

While on your way up to Genting, you should take a detour to this place called Bukit Tinggi. The highest point is the jap tea-house at around 3400 ft, then the french resort is around 2700 ft. There is nothing to do there except for photo-taking. You have to pay a small entrance fee (charge by the person) prior to entering the resort. The route up is almost like fraser hill, very good condition and no surpirse slippery sandy patch, with very light traffic.
