another one is at mah pte, where almost all the varas bought their bike from abt 7k they sell fv silver....

visual, dakar, al-simmons n the rest....i invited the vara 125 out but instead meet up with cool v-stromers n beemers wif huge side boxes but still can squeeze the killa jam.....a few tips from the pros abt riding up to kl, normally they would travel atleast 120-140km/h cuz the express buses n other cars will swap pass u at 150km/h n will cuz ya bike to swerve turbulence thingy n pack more weight cuz got strong wind might push ya bike to next lane.....take cares bros.... :faint:

ahh ya pingster.. *hehe funny that u woudl ask that question* given the fact that the prev owner actually did it... *back the when his speedo ddint work at all*

anyways

he attached the magnet + senor on the front typres, run cable up to the top.. and attach the sppedo.. *the speedo is removable.. thus prevent theft*

as for the 'digita;' bike speedometer...

$600 kind of steep...

dont know lah.. hope i dont ever have to resort to such an extend

yah, i noe vara84 did install a bicycle speedo b4 but when he let go to me, its already not there......

so when u fit the magnet + sensor to the front wheel, do u need to remove the original cable??

today try to do something to my speedo, remove the cable attach to the front wheel and did some cleaning and spray some wd4d, took out the speedo again, try to blow dry and spray some wd4d to the connections parts, also at the fuse box.

and u guess wat????

it works again..... @ least for 80+km for the moment....

dun really know wat i did actually help.... :sian:

but as long it works, im happy :cheer:

when installing the bicycle speedo...u dun need to remove the original cable...i had one of my frenz riding XR4 installing the speedo...u juz need the cable tie to tie the cable onto the fork...then u calibrate it....the calibration part...i dun know...some people said u can push the bike till the front disc brake make a full cycle...then the sensor is calibrated thus it will give u the distance travelled and speed based on the movement of the front wheel...i think so..correct me if i'm wrong,,,,

cos mine.. *was doing thta initially.. esp after the rain.. but but after a while it works fine.....as for blow dry the fuse and cable point.s... 8quite a godo idea..* maybe ..[simon] should try that.. as his is like yours *last time where u starrt bike.. rpm works only.. time, trip/dist & speedo dont work*

i tried *playing* with his fuse box, taking out and putting in the fuse.. *but didint work.. * but his bike is FU.. maybe there is dirt there....*

well i hope ur step works... permanenly.. then i can try on mine..

Now back to my headlight//... pingster.. so now.. all i have to do is.. swop the 2 points connectors? right for both bulnb.. and that shoudl solve the problem?

i want to do it.. but just that.. aint that easy to do it..

Daystar>> How's the Fuch engine oil thing coming along?

Born to be Wild : Steppenwolf (1968)

Posted

guys i just bought n changed TOTAL (i think) semi - syn or fully syn oil 15w -50w at $4 a bottle dam cheap ah. just flushed my engine and used that oil :D

anyway guys so far from the following oil

elf full syn 15w - 50w

delphin fully syn 15w - 50w

Shell 15w - 50

Mobil 1 10w - 40w

the cleanest oil that came out from my engine after the oil change the shell advance was the still the cleanest.

Posted

cleanest oil? is that a good thing?

[does clean mean effective? as in it really lubricates.... and able to channel all the metal debris and dirt to the filter while remaining clean....or clean means it didint really stick to the piston, it didint do a good job, that well thus not managed to absorb the metal dirt and grime this its clean?]

so whos gonna be the first to 'guess' and let go your 'theory' on this quiestion?

;)

for those who already [diy] oil change... all we got to do is..

1) standby a 'tray or containter' bottom of engine

2) locate the 'nut, located somewhere near rthe bottom rear of engibe.. on open the bugger...'

3) let the oil spill out and while waiting open the 2 oil filter nuts and take out the cover

4) put in the new oul filter...& screw in the nuts

5) tilt the bike up ait. top flush out ALL the remainding oil..

6) cover up the nut at bottom of engine

7) open the engine oil cap, use a funnel and pour in engine oil... (around 1.6 l)

8) close the cap and we are done..

right? hope i dididnt miss out any critical steps...as assume this is it sicne i always see mech do it...

ok now back to the

'Spray exhaust' issue..

hows 27 or 28 (sat or sun) Nov?

u guys free to do the exhaust spray..

i assume the thing we need first is

1) fine sand paper..

2) hi- temperature black spray 9which we can share to buy this)

what brand or where to goe.. im not that sure.. maybe some one can fill in or recommend a good brand...

as for process to open the exhaust...

[simon] if you got to work on those dates.. then any extra precaution that we need to take or its it just take out the 2 nuts connected to the engine...

and then unscrew some other stuff.. and DONE.. exhaust is out?

Any suggestions????

ok...so far the comments for Shell Advance engine oil is superb...its "oil vicosity" is very good...compare to even some european brands...or another thing is maybe the rider has not use the oil to the maximum...changing engine oil and the filter together is a good thing and must thing to do...plus spark plug..too....engine oil will only lubricate the cylinder wall in the combustion chamber...it will not goes up to the piston top...the piston rings prevent the engine oil from leaking out to the top...one of the reason for four stroke bike to have white smoke is PISTON RING WORNOUT...there could be other few reason lah....

clean oil means...clean engine...clean engine means better revolution of engine and also less overheating problem...so over all the rider's really took care of his/her bike....all servicing done at proper timing.... try to use the same oil if possible ya coz different oil has different additives...and its vicosity(something like the thickeness and quality)...

Tips...to prevent ur Air Filter from cloging up...there is a small sort of overflow tube under the air filter compartment...clear the overflow tube every month if possible...you will discover unburn petrol mixture in the tube....

Brother Visual....for info...just bring size 12" socket and renched with extension bar...easy to work with that...size 8" open end or ring spanner for the exhaust cover below..and one at the aft cyliner..allen key for side fairing...size 10" for bolt on top side fairing...must open seat lah then can see....exhaust itself are all size 12".....

i did the sparay thing on Deepavali day...quiet easy ya..remember bring WD40 or some rust remover for the under bolt connecting two exhaust...must spray... quiet "ketat"...to pull ....Happy Venturing.......

2 more weeks to go before the KL trip ya...hahaahha..can't wait lah.... should have a last meeting before we go..to settle the things to bring...and payment ya...

AL-SIMMONS...so are you coming with us to KL...???? do feedback ya...thanks....

rust proofing almost....hehehe!....i got a few pointer form europe website regarding vara125 mods n etc....i didnt know the vara 125 is such a big hit there n i got some pix too big to upload here abt exhaust, faring etc....sigh...!!!

Keeping away rust and corrosion when using a bike during the winter or rainy season is something that concerns many of us. There seems to be two options:

1) Wash the bike every week with a good 'auto wax' shampoo, then polish and oil the joints.

2) Do (1) then cover the bike with one of the 'winterising' fluids - Scott sell one. Then keep applying it during the winter and hope when you wash it off in the Spring, everything is bright and shiny.

3) The real destroyer' is not rain, but the salt and wet muck that is thrown up off the roads.

4) Left in place, it never really dries out and seems to attract condensation.

It is not a good idea to put a wet mucky bike in the garage.

5) Better to wash it down with a hose or throw a couple of buckets of warm water over it, first - do not put detergent in the water!

6) Most people I know, seem to do a mixture of the two. They wash the bike as often as they can - give the bike a good wash down with a auto shampoo with wax in it, polish it up - then spray the vulnerable parts with something like WD40.

7) If when you get the bike out in the morning, it is still wet, as well as being dirty, it has spent the night seeped in a weak acid! You had better hope that the 'protection Spray' is working!

8) Do not be tempted to wash the bike in a detergent (Fairy liquid) just because you get a nice lot of bubbles - use and Auto Shampoo. The only time you may wish to use a detergent is when you give the bike a 'Spring Clean' - prior to giving the bike a wash in auto shampoo and a good wax polish.

9) Even if you are not using the bike during the winter, in an unheated garage, it is likely to attract condensation.

10) Give it a spray of WD40 every now and again - when you give the battery a charge up!

joke taken from varadero international forum

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband. Suddenly her husband burst into the kitchen.

"Careful ... CAREFUL!

Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY!

Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful ... CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL!

You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never!

Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!"

The wife stared at him. "What the hell is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?"

The husband calmly replied, "I wanted to show you what it feels like when I am riding with you on my varadero."- :box:
