hi people ,

i think by now , some would know that i have had my trusty Ta200 for almost 9 years and its time to move on.

can say i have been very into the chopper class bikes and now i think i cannot change into anything but a cruiser

however in the class 2a and 2 market , it looks like i have little choice

i have looked at steed , daystar , shadow

how i dun find any of them really comfortable for my built

have been looking for super 4 , however very hard to add compartments to it and it really looks bad with boxes

till now can anyone advise me at bike to upgrade to ????

my budget is 3k for a second hand bike and maintainence per month cannot exceed 100

thanks peeps

jeremy aka lanman

2A cruiser..

Honda - steed, shadow, shadow slasher

Yamaha - dragster

Suzuki - savage, boulevard

Kawasaki - vulcan

easiest to find within your budget .... steed, shadow.. comfort can be customized..

seat can be padded, backrest added, handles, up/down, pullback/forward

just get the bike which you want to ride, posture can be adjusted later

for example : Vidak's grasshopper,

i'm also facing the same problem... been riding ta200.. and i really looking out for class 2a or even class 2... but the price and maintainence is really a great worry... haiz...

Unless i can find a 2A crusier with similar FC as TA200 then i will consider not renewing COE and upgrade to 2A bike. Petrol prices are certainly not going to be decreasing or even remain stagnant for sure.

maybe u can consider installment, that way u can have more choices

installment is spending the $ which you dont have.

for 2A, dont bother taking installment, if you dont have $.. dont upgrade.. simple as that.

for me, i'm actually eyeing the suzuki gsr 400. that's a really sweet bike...

i wanted to get that when i was looking for 2A, but that time... GSR 400 is 10k +, not enough cash, ofcuz can take loan but interest is 6% from shop.

if u take 5 year loan, interest is about 3k, monthly pay 300, 1 year later, only paid 3k plus only, just for interest.. havent include depreciation yet.

i went for what i can afford, super 4 spec1... 4k cash.. happy touring all over Malaysia..

I wanted to get a blink blink new super 4 spec 3 when i was looking for 2A in 2005.

Its the latest 2A bike in the market and it cost 14k for a brand new (COE was just 400+?)

Still a student then, hence limited re$ources. Interest rate is 6-8% from shop !

I went for what i can afford; A 97' Super 4 verison S at 2.5k cash.. happy touring all over Malaysia, Thailand and sometimes Cambodia. :D

I think the struggle between me is finally over.

The age old battle of trusty vs novelty.

When the legends of the well tested, simplified, and recognized brand of Honda pits its worth and all its generations of history, specs I, II,III revo and many more in between, against the Suzuki, titled simply GSR 400.

The battle begun with Honda showing all its trusted features, simple 2 dial meter, familiar noises, expected position of signal lights and no frail supply of parts and recognition within the small island.

The Suzuki countered with its integrated side lights, digital meters, twin under the seat exhaust and single column suspension, but failed to meet the parry of the availability of parts.

Then came the battle of practicability, Honda could easily mount a box and not look too unsightly, the Suzuki, just couldn't............... mainly a tank bag, but not a box.............

Finally came the fiercest battle, for all its worth the Honda easily led the battle with prices from $2500 to $14000 (Second hand), whereas the Suzuki could only lead 8000 onwards....

As time settled down and calmness filled the air again, I can only say,

Sorry Honda, this time, the Suzuki wins.

"Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats, calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace." Isaiah 11:6-8
