Hey guys, my mech told me that my wiring is badly done and need me to do a re-wire. Because my voltmeter is showing 11 to 10.9 while idling with headlights on. They quoted me 380 for the full re-wiring and im thinking if i should do it or not.

 

But when I switch of my headlight, the voltmeter shows 12 - 13v. Mine's a N model and there's no switch for my headlight, the switch was an external addon from previous owner. Do you think it's the switch that causes the problem ? And does my voltage affect alot of things ?

if i remember correclty i've been quoted 100+ to 200+ in both rm and sgd.

 

i think if 380 is a bit high.

tho personally i believe its definitely worth it to do back all the wire swee2.

or u can try find a good condition used wiring harness.

something like that happened to my rvf.. so it couldn't charge well. after i connect the coil to the rectifier directly i get better charge..

ok what... as long volt between 9-13 is fine...reguardless of running or not... but sometimes wack will reach till 14.7watt the most lah but try not cause will burn ur coil and everything!!!

what happened to ur bike? anything wrong? cannot start? or bat not charging? why must do wiring?

expensive siah...question is how sure are they it is a wiring problem? there are so many possible things that could contribute to this no? ask them how they can be so sure it is not something else?

Hmm thanks people for the help and information. My mech told me because some of my wired is being bypassed and not connected through how it's suppose to go. It's being bypassed and connected from my rectifier and my battery straight. What he recommend is I change my wire harness and now wire harness is kinda rare to get for CBR 400 right ?

the voltage diff when light is on or off is normal..

the question should be is why is it so low??..

all old bikes will face this problem...because of bad joints and connections as a result of wear and tear..rust and oxidation with time..

thats why people do grounding with bikes especially old bikes...

try check your wires joints..tighten all if you can..

will grounding solve this problem??

get hold of a jumpstart cable and ground your bike and see any difference in your voltage readings..

Anyone know when my headlight can't light up? I can on highbean but cant for normal lighting.

most probably..either you have a blown lamp or a faulty switch
