Some qn on fuse.

1) what is the diff btw glass and ceremic fuse?

2) is there a 10A 12V fuse?

3) i'm using a 10A 250V (for electrical plug) ceremic fuse in my bike, is it ok?

4) can i customize in a blade fuse and is there a diff btw glass n ceremic?

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

It will definitely work but it won't offer any protection.

Will answer all these questions in one go

For Ceramic fuse, I hope you are referring to "conti ceramic fuse". These are really old school, and were used on previous generation continental cars like FIAT, and ALFA ROMEO.

Glass fuses are not suitable for vehicles because of the glass casing. Why it is still use because it's cheap, like for the IU.

Proper fuse for vehicles are known as "blade fuse", and they come in two sizes, STANDARD or MINI. The ratings are colior coded like RED is for 10A.

why so? can provide more technical details? someone told me it'll still blow if short circuit, while another told me it's not suitable but could not say why, then another say ok, making me all confused.

thanks for the recommendation, i guess i better diy it to use blade fuse. btw does blade fuse comes with V ratings like for 250V or 12/24V?

as for the saving cost, it's like 20c vs 50c, is there a big difference for a few thousand dollars machine :faint:

There are fuses for AC and fuses for DC. Although fuses could be rated the same, say 10A, it will blown at a different rate between AC voltage and DC voltage. Let's not go deeper, otherwise I will also be confused :)

For vehicles, stick to blade fuses and you will never go wrong.

What's your appliication ?

fuse is rated in amps

but there are different specs for fuses..slow burnt, fast burn etc..suggest you consult google..

blade fuse are used in low voltage applications..as in automotive aplication

besides the fuse... a resetable one is called a breaker..eg mcb aka miniature circuit breaker, etc..

check this out for fuse lingo..http://www.globalspec.com/Specifications/Electrical_Electronic_Components/Electrical_Distribution_Protection_Equipment/Fuses
