np. just asking "biting point" abt the S100 when mixed with water was it as effective?

As for your stains you may want to try to rub it off with super fine sand paper with water. The kind they use for plastic modelling.

yes, after mixing with 50% water still effective..

dun spray or try to sand the block..

the chemical had "eat" into the metal, there's nothing much you can do now..

unless you dismantle the whole engine and bring it for powdercoating..

spraying clear on a engine block is just simply asking for trouble..

asked 2 shops for paint quotes..

shop 1 quoted low 100+ & few days work as he needs to take out engine

shop 2 quoted 100, no need take out engine.

I've just concluded the lighter shade is the original undamaged color, it doesn't

look like it has lacquer (coz lacquer has a sheen right?)

It's a DRY look, but more than just MATT, it has a little sparkle (erm...resin feel?)

IS THAT POWDER COAT?

biting_point sensei, where can i do powder coat, est cost, work duration?

i done my powdercoating at the following shop..

Deed-co Technologies

65 Defu Lane 12, 539149

tel: 6281 8901

but you would have to dismantle and bring the engine there yourself..

i bet the shops you asks are quoting you spraying the engine with normal paint..

it's taking a risk here, you dun know if the paint can withstand the heat..

when the paint is heated up, it'll even uglier than it is now..

i would suggest to ignore and ride..

you'll be upgrading in future..

just remember not to use back the degreaser anymore..

i dont think it's eating into the metal, more likely the paint only. i had similar situation where i accidently clean a part with thinner. initially it looks great, only to find out later the top layer paint is melting off, n i initially tot the whole piece is metal. but lucky it's a small part only.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

so respray lacquer might help?

aahh...so helpless, lol. Wanna experiment, but scared disaster...

i dont think lacquer is resistant to heat. if u want experm, try on a small area n see how it works out.
