Hi guys,

those of you who wear eyeglasses might find this interesting.

The transition glasses that we wore daily, the lenses changes to dark when exposed to UV rays, right?

But if the helmet visor is coated with anti UV agents, it basically means minimal UV gets through the visor (which is a good thing), but on the other hand, the eyeglasses will not change to darker shades to block out the sun.

Those of you who rode before when the sun is opp you on the highways would probably pray for a sunglasses/ shades there and then.

Seems that the only option is to get a lightly tinted visor (neither here nor there) or a helmet with an integral sun visor.

Just sharing this info. (Or probably I am the only 1. haha....)

Have a nice ride.

eh.. what I did was get the wear-over sunglasses with the UV coating, frm the Mobil/Esso stations.

$40+/- IIRC..

When I tried the sunglasses over my prescription lenses, that already has the transition, with my old Zeus open face helmet with light smoke visor, I couldnt see a sh!t as the visor itself has the UV coating, and my vision has lots of "rainbow" or "petrol spill" effects on the road or vehicle's windscreen.

Tried clear visor combo, also same bad effect.

It was so bad that I had to resort back to riding with the light smoke visor without the sunglasses.

Thought I'd money wasted..

Until I switched my helmet to a Arai Ram 3 Uptown.

The stock visor is cited as light smoke, and with the aforementioned combo, my vision was comfortable on the road, albeit the occasional "rainbow" or "petrol spill" effects, but was still tolerable.

It has been my day riding combo since & at least my eyes arent that tired out after a day on the road..

i experience this rainbow or petrol spill effect everytime i use polarised sunglasses. experienced it on 2 different models of polarised sunglasses, and effect was not present in all non-polarised sunglasses.

the effect occurs when i wear the polarised sunglasses and thereafter look thru a 'second screen' like helmet visor or car windscreen. worn on their own its all normal. when driving its not so bad, but when riding with full face, super disorienting.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

+1 on this - my experience is the same with polarised glasses. Had to return my polarised Oakley the next day and change for a non-polarised pair. No problems before or since.

Haven't tried any transition-type (photochromatic) lenses yet

There's another option thou, using helmets that have the Pinlock system.

You can insert/use tinted different coloured lenses depending on the weather or your comfort.

Its also acts as an anti-fog barrier between the visor and face when fogging is always an issue in full face helmets.

However, this is only for those helmets that comes with Pinlock Visors ready...
