Recently went for inspection, Viacom upgraded their test setup and looks like very difficult to pass with the link brake system.

Anyone have done a delink locally before?

 

Bro Madginsalasa, i had done the brakes system de-link, locally. As i prefer to have full control over my brakes rather than that CBS system. My slow BB still brakes fine at higher speeds and passes the yearly inspection. Though i prefer to do mine at STA instead of Viacom.

Yup, checked my hoses and the rad cap is 1.4 bar rated. However the issue involves more. I learn that while higher pressure is good coolant circulation is also needed that might not happen when in idle at 1100-1250 rpm. What i notice at 3000rpm-7000rpm the coolant system is singing and heat exchange is good temperature can drop to 86 deg c even at 40 deg ambient temp. Depends on the coolant use also lah. So now am trying to figure out overcome this and stopping the engine does not help as below 100 only will the engine start for the year 2000 and above model.

 

Bro Madginsalasa, firstly, try cleaning your cooling system with coolant flush chemical. Take note, this may surface additional problems in our old BB, for example, weak seals or cracked hoses, etc. Flush your cooling system till clean water drains out. Completely drain out any water. Top up cooling system with pre-mixed coolant or if using the normal coolant, mix it up with those battery water (pure water, not battery acid). Please do not mix with tap water, as the minerals and chemicals in tap water will be deposited on the inner side of our cooling system, over time. That's why we often see those murky dark muddy colored coolant in old motorcycles cooling system.

 

See if the above helps with your cooling issues. Removing the thermostat completely might help. It is only there to help the initial heating up of engine, nothing more. In our hot climate, it is almost next to useless, IMHO.

Appreciate very much your kind advice. Just to update my humble findings, initially i thought the radiator was blocked so went to ask distributor for costing. Price was $900. Naturally when online bought an after market aluminium radiator at $250 with delivery. Install radiator and hydrostatic pressure test at 2 bar found no leaks. Ride same high temp issue again.Did own troubleshooting and found that the thermostat was not installed. Wondering if previous owner got know this issue. So bought thermostat and housing from distributor at $130, self install. Ride and on average 90-103 deg C temp. Heat rejection is good. But still thinks can be improve for singapore climate, currently looking at other possible solutions see if can be applied.

Bro Madginsalasa, that is great. I had also bought and installed a china made aftermarket radiator on my BB. Works just fine. Improving the quality of the coolant should help slightly with cooling. Also, if your engine is running lean, it will also run hotter than normal.

 

Wow, you did a self install on the thermostat. Nice. I also like to work on my bikes, though only the simple stuff.

Thank you for the compliment. With the power of internet, assistance from Honda Blackbird manual, problems can be solved. Only issue is time not enough and depending on breakfix type. For de-link system the anti dive will it be removed ? Hope you dont mind contacting me at 83395075.
